Necessary assumptions negations

Hey guys,

When using the negation method for necessary assumption, are both negatives negated if the sentence contains a double negative? For example, in the sentence "it is not the case that Amy never goes to the movies", would the negation be:
1) It is the case that Amy sometimes goes to the movies
or
2) It is the case that Amy never goes to the movies

Thank you!

This is why I don’t use negation technique, lol. Pretty sure it’s number 2 though.

    it's #2!

at the core, assumption negation is simply negating the meaning of the sentence.

"it is not the case that Amy never goes to the movies" means Amy sometimes goes to the movies (or #1)

"sometimes/some" negates to "never/none"... so #2 would be correct
