Gosh, this question was hard.
Can anyone explain why B is not a weakener?
I thought B weakened because, if most people in the painting did resemble real people from history, then if we follow the author's logic, this would mean that any of those people could also be the painter of the painting.
Any #help would be appreciated!
Thanks!

Why would we be following the author’s logic? What we are trying to do in weakening questions is to say that the premises don’t necessarily lead to the conclusion because of other considerations. Just because the people in the painting are real people doesn’t mean that any one of those people created the painting, just as much as if he was the only real person then he created the painting. Just because you’re a person in a painting doesn’t mean you are/aren’t the one who created the painting, the premises really don’t support the conclusion at all. But, what does weaken the conclusion is D, where it gives you a reason to believe that if that person was in the painting then you wouldn’t have been the one to create it.
Oh I get it-- so basically in order to weaken, we would need those other people to have drawn their own self-portraits as well! Thanks @jdseidler-1 !
