Does JY formally address how to tackle these types of dual passages on recent LSAT tests?

Yes, check out the RC explanations for the newer PTs. It doesn't happen immediately, but soon after the introduction of the comparative passages, the videos switch to doing the questions one passage at a time. Great strategy, and works well for point at issue questions as well.
