PT14.S2.Q12 - In many languages other than english

edited October 2021 in Logical Reasoning 206 karma

Hey,

So i got stuck between AC A and C, I cannot seem to understand the way A weakens the argument? and I do not see how C does not weaken the argument.

If anyone has any ideas I'd appreciate it

Thanks

The conclusion here is: if you have fewer basic words for colors than English, then you're unable to distinguish as many colors as English speakers can.

C doesn't prove anything. So what if they use "blue" for most leaves and "green" for unripe bananas? What does that tell us about their ability to distinguish just as many colors as English speakers can?

A, on the otherhand, gives us that comparison. English speakers only have one word "blue" but can still distinguish between light and dark blue, while Russian has two different words. A shows that despite having fewer words, you can still distinguish between two colors, which undermines the premise.
