Can we go over why it is not A? I switched from A to E but I am trying to reason out why A is wrong rather than my reasoning right now which is that E is better than A. Is it because A doesn't have a conditional which results in the daughter not protecting the life. A seems to focus on protection of life but the MP of the stimulus is listening to the father's wishes which the stimulus in E highlights.

    The underlying principle justifies the decision. She decides to forgo the surgery because the father would strongly object to it. In principle she opted to respect her father's wishes above all else: this is the principle driving this decision. Answer A is wrong as it expresses an exception to a rule whereas E expresses the application of a rule.

    Lets look at it logically:

    If father would object to surgery, then you must respect their wishes. Since the father does object, you must not go through with the surgery.

    Principle: If father would object to surgery, then you must respect their wishes.

    Application: Therefore, you must not go through with the surgery.

    Principle --> Application

    Answer A: protect parents health unless prohibited.

    Application --> Exception

    Answer E: Obligation to accede to patient's preference.

    Principle --> application
