I know people here have different goals and ambitions but what is everyone's goal school and LSAT score? I'll start... Goal LSAT 168+ and Goal schools are Stanford and Duke.

I would take a full ride or a full ride with a stipend if offered from a decent school though.

With UVIC being first choice, and everything else coming after.

Ideal scenario would be 168, Texas.

Will settle for a 162, SMU or U of Houston.

McGill would be awesome... It's pretty cheap and my GI Bill would cover 2/3rds of the cost and childcare would be cheaper... I love Montreal and think it would be awesome to weave back and forth between French and English during law school... too bad they love reverse splitters and not splitters... otherwise I would totally go there... maybe I'll throw an app there way just to see what happens...

Wow, looks like UVic is in demand, atleast as per this forum, and rightly so. UVic is a great University which has its graduates working at various elite law firms on Bay Street.

Personally, I'm hoping to get into Western because of its combined JD/MBA program. Along with a great JD program, Western offers one of the best MBA programs in Canada. Also, if you score over 160 in LSAT, you are not required to write the GMAT. So that's my dream school and LSAT goal (Western JD/MBA ; 160+ LSAT).

@Pacifico Yap ! McGill is awesome! I did my undergrad there and am currently doing my master's there as well. Along with the benefit of being able to swtich back and forth in French and English, you get two degrees when you graduate from law school! One for common law (LLB) as well as civil law (BCL), since Quebec operates under the French system. I know they love GPA, since they do not require the LSAT, but I've seen many receive acceptance even with low GPAs( also many refused with high grades) - mostly people with unique personal backgrounds.

So, there is a fundamental principle in medical hypnosis that you never say, write, or even think words and numbers that you do not want in your life. Because the conscious mind then programs the unconscious mind. Following along.... Yale, 180.

My French is good enough to live in any Francophone country and speak only French. It was good enough for the Army to pay me for it and use it operationally when needed. Not quite good enough yet to attend law school in French. But I could likely get there before matriculating, though probably not before applying.

@Pacifico That's awesome! I don't think the school requires full fluency anyway. Many attend McGill with only "some proficiency". The fact that you have a unique(?) work background (Army) + language skills is probably a HUGE plus. Although their median GPA is 3.7/4, I see on the Canadian law school forum that, sometimes (in rare cases), people get in with a 2.9 GPA.

@bishoplaw FWIW a 171 will possibly get you into better schools than UGA (e.g.- NU, Emory, WUSTL) so don't sell yourself short unless you have other personal reasons to go to UGA...

I want to go to my local law school. Just opened in 2006 by Law professors from Duke and Wake Forest. They are making a name for themselves, and creating a lot of new ways to teach and learn. Elon school of Law ( www.elon.edu/law ). Because they are so new, the competition is in my ball park. My GPA is 3.66, so if I get a 155+ on the LSAT... I can qualify for a full scholarship. A free law degree would be amazing, and their program is 2.5 years. They have 2 trimester years, and then in your L3, you graduate in December. That last trimester, they begin helping you to study for the Bar and prepare you to take and pass it in February after graduation.
