Just took my 3rd prep test (PT 120). Got a 169. LR -4, RC -4 and LR -1. Very Happy with this result as I am still pretty early in my studying journey.
The only caveat is that for what 7sage deemed to be the "experimental" section on this exam, I got -8. This LR section was noticeably harder, I have never gotten -8 in a section before.
I am just wondering whether this section was truly "experimental"? As getting a -8 on the one section that didn't get scored feels a bit like it invalidates my 169.
Any thoughts or experience on the so called "experimental" sections would be greatly appreciated!

don't believe those tests are experimental sections. tests after 99 are not actual prep tests they are tests 7sage made by combining sections from old prep tests to fit into the new non logic games format.
Hi @liambmccullagh
Congrats on your 169—that’s an amazing score, especially this early in your studying! 🎉
As for the experimental section, since it’s not scored, it has no impact on your final result. LSAC includes these sections to test out new questions for future exams, and they can sometimes feel noticeably harder or different from the rest of the test. Rest assured that your 169 reflects your performance on the actual, scored sections.
I hope this helps!
Honestly, great question -- according to this Reddit post: https://www.reddit.com/r/LSAT/comments/1b1jyry/new_lsat_conversion_tables_for_august/
It says: "The preptests are mostly intact: For all 58 tests, LSAC took 3 sections from 58 corresponding old tests. Then they broke up 20 old tests to make the experimentals. They're experimentals in name only, they were originally scored sections."
So it sounds like experimental sections used to be real, scored sections. But, the comments above are saying something different? Not sure, I'd like clarity on this as well.
This is correct. Every experimental section on the PT’s is a real section. It does not affect your PT score, but it is not experimental in the sense that the test makers have any uncertainty about its validity or relative difficulty. These sections were each meticulously tested and analyzed before being administered, as a scored section, on a real test.
It's confusing that they call them experimental instead of "unscored" because it sounds like they're less relevant to content you can expect to see on a real test when that's not the case. When LSAC dropped logic games last summer, they replaced that section in PTs 1-94 with one LR or RC section from another PT, then renumbered the new 4-section combos as 101-158.
This chart shows where sections from old PTs fit into the new PT numbering system: https://lsat.magoosh.com/lsat-preptests-mapping-guide . For example, three LR and RC sections from old PT50 were added as an unscored section in each of the new PT#s 128, 129, and 130. You could combine those three sections and score it with the scale for old PT50 to get another scaled score.
