How to best approach Pure Sequencing game?

J.Y. advocates solving for possibilities, but i'm not sure if you took the course, there is a pretty basic diagram he teaches you for pure sequencing games and you learn to read this so fast, that you don't need to use possibilities, ever.

If possibilities work for you though, you should do it, as long as its not a time sink.
