Hi guys, I have a question about and/or in this Q. Example the first sentence is A gift is not generous, unless benefits recipient & is worth more than expected
So when I apply the unless translation do I change the AND to an OR no matter what side i translate it to or do I keep the AND then switch when taking the contrapositive? Im confused...reading too many prep materials lol...
For example would this be correct?
~ benefit the recipient AND is ~ worth more than expected -> ~ generous
CP: Generous -> Benefit recipient or Worth more than expected
Comments
so "unless" means negate sufficient. So lets say you are picking to put " benefits recipient and is worth more than expected" in sufficient. So to negate that, you would write:
~benefit recipient OR ~worth more than expected -> ~ generous (this because the negation of AND is OR)
*but if you were to pick generous in sufficient then you would negate (~generous). Since two negatives make a positive your statement should read:
generous -> Intend to benefit recipient AND worth more than expected ( you would leave the AND intact from the stimulus because you are only negating the sufficient here. )
