Extra time accommodations

Hi, I was wondering if I could get a little help with this topic. I registered late for the LSAT (because of the september LSAT results), and I'm going to be submitting my request for accommodations, specifically extra time, and a quiet room by tomorrow. I have a diagnosed learning disability.

But the thing is, I'm canadian, so we don't have standardized tests prior to post-secondary education. Furthermore, I didn't have accommodations during my undergrad because it's largely writing/essay based rather than test based.

I didn't write my last LSAT with accommodations because I wasn't aware that they granted them.

If anyone has taken the LSAT with accommodations, could you please shed some light on the issue? I already know that I have to fill in the 3 forms that LSAC provides. I'm also going to be providing a detailed psych evaluation (30+ pages describing my LD). What other documents should I include to strengthen my case?

    Because you took the LSAT, they are going to consider your performance in their consideration of your request. So depending on how you did, that could potentially strengthen or weaken your case.

    As for the rest, sounds like a great question for @BruiserWoods or somebody else who knows the process better than I do.

    Your psych evaluation needs to be recent (within last five years) and if you are taking medication and it is written in your evaluation that might hurt your case. If you received accommodation during your primary,middle or high school make sure to mention it in your statement of need and submit supporting document from your primary or high school if you can.

    @drzoidberg Hey I have received accommodations from the LSAT and its a fairly simple process. All you have to do is fill out the three documents required by the LSAC and explain why you need the accommodations. Just like you I didnt receive accommodations in undergraduate until I registered for the LSAT. I explained to them the situation I was in and gave all my medical test exams as well as the note provided by a specialist illustrating that I needed these accommodations and I was approved about two weeks later.

    @"Cant Get Right" That is not true about using his prior performance on the exam in their consideration. If his doctor recommends him to receive accommodations and there is good reasoning behind it they will most likely grant it. The LSAC has their own "medical specialists" that determine if you are qualified for accommodations. His past performance can't have any impact on this decision, it is strictly based on his medical conditions and if it is otherwise it would be in violation of the ADA. I talked to the Department of Justice about this because of what the LSAC has done with breaking precedent and mandating experimental sections for accommodated test takers. I hope I helped =)

    @Matthew524 thank you for your response. i'm just a bit worried they'll reject my accommodations request because my learning disability isn't as specific as ADHD/ADD, rather it's a wide array of issues. regardless, i do have documentation such as my test reports for the learning disorder, as well as my psychologist's note regarding my condition.

    My request for extended time is still pending decision by LSAC. Been a very stressful14 days to say the least! Foreseeing the possibility that they deny my request, I'll have to postpone to February and probably miss out on this year's cycle.Don't want to risk taking the LSAT and scoring "decent enough" for them to deny my further request. In light of this, I also have a simultaneous request for accommodations being considered by ETS for the GRE. Takes them a little longer but 80% get approved and, from what I understand, that would force LSAC to accommodate me. Fingers crossed!!
