It's different for everybody, but October is likely out of the picture so just prep for December with 2-3 PTs per week and see where you're at once the cutoff date for postponement/datechange arrives.
First thing you need to do is to start taking PT on a regular basis! Then, once you have a solid base of scores and analytics, you'll be able to make a good call on which testdate is best for you.
