The only downfall for taking it again is that most schoolsaverage your score, from what I have been seeing and researching, it is just best to give it your best shot all at once, If you think you'll do better december, wait until december, take it then.
I can't speak for the schools in the U.S, but in Canada, it really depends on which school you are applying to. Some schoolsaverage out your test scores, and others take your highest score.
