I really enjoyed working with Taylor Willis. She is very organized, patient, and positive. She responds very quickly via email and is also very accommodating with our time differences (17+ hour difference). Although she was an excellent tutor, the price was very expensive and I did not reach my goal score. But that's on me. Regardless, I thank her for everything she has done to help with the LSAT!

Let me start off by saying all of the staff at 7Sage were incredibly helpful and kind throughout the whole process. This review is not an indictment on them as people or tutors, but rather a candid review of the services offered. I would also like to add that it is incredibly challenging to not allow a failed score goal to impact your review. I'm more than aware that at the end of the day, it was only me sitting down for the test, the tutoring cannot grant the score just by signing up for tutoring. I was also well aware of the disclaimer that 7Sage cannot guarantee score increases. But I would like to (try and) take a holistic approach in providing a review.

I started off with a 140 official LSAT score in June of 2022 and a 139 on the 7Sage diagnostic. I signed up for 7Sage in July of 2022 and slowly began my way through the curriculum, gaining momentum later in the fall and winter. I studied for about 2 hours a day - albeit not always being consistent. I initially wanted to sign up for 7Sage tutoring in the fall of 2022 but decided against it (mainly from a price standpoint) and went with an independent tutor in the early spring of 2023 to gear up for June. That was a negative experience. I took a small break from the LSAT and picked it up into gear this past fall, again aiming for June 2024 or the earliest time I felt I would be ready.

I signed up for tutoring on Cyber Monday which I had eyeballed given the price decrease. I purchased 20 hours and was matched with a tutor shortly thereafter. My goal, like so many others, had been a 170 or higher. I scored a 159 in June of 2023 and felt that with better structure and teaching, combined with personal improvement, I could be where I wanted.

The intake form is an awesome opportunity to express who you are as a student and where you want to be. However, I don't know if I was matched up exactly where I wanted to be. One of my biggest obstacles is that I work full time and had a part time job for the duration of the studying. I'm in the office working every day and have a commute of an hour to two hours minimum. In other words, I really needed to prioritize my time. I've noticed (in as kind of a way I can put it) a lapse in 7Sage for their tutoring services geared towards studiers working full time and beyond. Even after expressing this detail in my intake form, I was still given a study schedule that incorporated two full sections a day with other drills. While this might not seem like much for certain studiers, If I listed I could study for 1-2 hours a day on the weekdays, I'm not entirely sure that it is advantageous or even doable to complete all of the assigned tasks. And while my study plan explicitly listed that quality was better than quantity, it is hard to feel that way when you're checking one of six boxes in a study plan.

This was disappointing insofar as the thing I was looking forward to most with 7Sage was a catered study plan. I certainly got that but I don't know if it matched up. It wasn't until 12+ sessions in we were finally able to craft a better study plan. I know the tutors come from all backgrounds and stories, but it would be great to highlight those who've had success working full time and studying. It is very challenging and I didn't entirely feel that it was reflected with my studying experience. One very minor detail was that I was matched with a tutor that was 3 hours behind my time zone. A very small detail but as someone with a limited schedule because of two jobs, it was slightly limiting in scheduling times. I take it the popularity of the signups on Cyber Monday might've caused tutor matching to be a bit more limited, but something worth noting. Overall, I'm happy with my tutor as a person and the intake form and starting resources are great. But better continuity between the study plan and the student would've been helpful in my case.

The individual sessions happened regularly (weekly basis), a check-in at the beginning and an emphasis on the study plan (but it was alterable based on studying needs which is much appreciated). Studying and learning with someone online is never easy and I give my tutor a big thank you for teaching me. I recognize a personal shortcoming is that I struggle to learn online - I don't always feel that I'm able to retain information as well. Nonetheless, my tutor was always patient and understanding.

I felt at time that the emphasis that is placed on weekly PTs can be a challenge. I appreciated my tutor giving leeway if I didn't feel a PT was necessary - while also recognizing that 7Sage and their tutors rely on the analytics to make improvements. It can just be a challenge at times to carve out times on the weekends to take, BR, and WAJ a PT. Especially if you're not feeling great about studying that previous week. This was clearly communicated by the tutoring consultant and I went into studying knowing this. But it would also be nice to consider a bi-monthly PT schedule instead of every week if the student doesn't need to learn that way. Again, this highlights a potential lack of understanding to a full-time work schedule studier. I am very likely an outlier of those who weren't able to study efficiently working full time (given how many success stories exist on the forums), but nonetheless, paying money and engaging your time in a service to maximize your potential didn't always feel reflected in what I got back.

Finally, my other point of mention would be the cost. 7Sage tutoring is expensive. I (willingly) took a second job to help assist with the monthly payments (which is a great feature that 7Sage has). Still with the discount, the 20-hour monthly installments are not cheap. First, it would be nice if the monthly subscription could be discounted while you pay for tutoring. Given that 7Sage now has a plan that incorporates a check-in with the tutoring team (in additional to the CC and Live Classes), perhaps incorporating that into the tutoring expenses would be beneficial. Not eliminating the cost, but recognizing that if I'm paying several hundred in tutoring costs, a small discount on my monthly expense would be appreciated. It is hard to not compare what you might find price wise to other tutors online, but I recognize the security and consistency of the 7Sage product. At times, however, it felt more "turn-and-burn" than anything. What I mean by this is that 7Sage is a business - helping achieve their students success while continuing to attract new clients is a reasonable business model. But, given the cost and the placement strategy, it at times felt like you were molded into their system (intake form to tutor to weekly meetings to test day) and the opportunity to express and experiment with new learning techniques doesn't quite exist (or doesn't appear to exist in the same way).

Overall, I fully recognize that I'm the outlier review here and that my experience has been dictated by a score goal that I failed to reach. 7Sage is not a bad service - I hope my review highlights that. There are hundreds of good reviews out there and I don't want to try and detract from that by this review. I just hope to highlights some shortcomings that I experienced (coupled with a bit of disappointment in not being able to maximize the service to reach my goals). I hope this adds some brevity to the tutoring services of 7Sage. Thank you.
