Admission Criteria

The admission policies for Mississippi College School of Law are established annually by the faculty. The standards are primarily based on an applicant's undergraduate grade-point average and LSAT score. However, we also give significant weight to an applicant's personal statement, recommendations, employment history, military service, graduate work, activities, community service, and personal circumstances. Indeed, these other factors can play a decisive role in the admission process. In addition to demonstrating academic potential, these factors can help the Admissions Committee identify applicants who bring distinct viewpoints and a variety of experiences to our academic community.

A bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university is required by the date of law school enrollment, and confirmation is necessary before registration. Each applicant must have taken the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) within five years of application to MC Law.

In addition, a candidate is required to register with the LSAC Credential Assembly Service (CAS). The CAS report is sent to the law school upon request and includes an undergraduate transcript summary, copies of all undergraduate and graduate transcripts, LSAT score or scores, and a copy of the LSAT writing sample.

Application Instructions

We accept applications that have been prepared using the LSAC electronic application. You can use the LSAC e-apps to electronically transmit your law school application to LSAC. LSAC will then send the electronic version of your application to our office. If exceptional circumstances exist that prevent you from filing online, please contact the Admissions Office.

Applications submitted to LSAC for transmission to this law school will be considered postmarked on the day they are electronically submitted.

Application Timetable
Applications are accepted for the entering class from September 1, 2025, until July 15, 2026.

Application Procedures

For an applicant to be considered by the Admissions Committee, the individual's file must be complete with the following required documents:

An application that is signed and dated. (Every question must be answered.)
A personal statement.
An LSAT/LSAC Law School Report.

Review Process

Decisions are made on a rolling basis and the Admissions Committee begins considering completed applications in December. An applicant is notified of the Admissions Committee's decision by letter.

Scholarships

Academic merit scholarships are awarded based on the information contained in this application. No separate scholarship application is required. Applicants may be invited to interview for special scholarships.

Admissions to a State Bar

All students who intend to apply for admission to a state bar should consult with the specific state bar for requirements. Many states require both registration as a law student and a bar exam application. Also, fees for students who are later in registering are substantially higher. In addition to a bar examination, there are character, fitness, and other qualifications for admission to the bar in every U.S. jurisdiction. Applicants are encouraged to determine the requirements for any jurisdiction in which they intend to seed admission by contacting the jurisdiction.
