Hi! I've just completed a Masters of Science in Legal Studies with a concentration in Intellectual Property. I had intended to get this degree just to work as a legal aid at a law firm, but I think that I want to actually go to law school now. Will this degree prevent me from being able to go? Will law schools disapprove of it? Thanks for any help you can give me.

@stegilbe2013 - This degree won't be an issue at all! There are a number of people who have done just what you have (ie, gone to grad school with one plan to work as a legal aid, legal assistant, or paralegal) and have then said, "You know what ... let's do the JD!" It's totally normal!

As you apply for JD programs, you're going to run into concerns and worries ("Is my LSAT high enough? When are the app deadlines?") but you can wipe this one right off that list!

While I can't speak for all schools, I'd imagine most schools would see an educational background in law as a beneficial thing rather than a negative, particularly if you did well in that Masters program.
