😖 Frustrated

Retaking lsat

I just took the June lsat and I got a 162 - I hit 171 in pt, and 166 on average should I wait until October for retake or earlier the better ?

Hello! I agree with Colton's advice, especially on simulating an actual test day.

I highly recommend taking PTs in one sitting to simulate the actual exam environment. For example, when I didn't practice doing 2.5-hour exams, on my first actual exam, my brain went on strike by the time I reached the fourth section. Only after I regularly simulated the actual exam time did I stop feeling fatigued at the end.

As future exam dates approach, see if you are hitting your goal range consistently in your PTs. Ideally, you should only sit for the official exam when your PTs prove you are ready. So if your PTs consistently produce your goal before August, then maybe you're ready for August. But if not, it's better to save your attempt to later to use it when you're actually ready.

I hope this helps, and good luck!

I would always be hesitant to use one of your limited attempts if you haven't diagnosed and addressed what went wrong. 162 is pretty far from your average. It could just be an outlier and you got unlucky. Maybe you will do closer to your average on another attempt, but there could be an issue somewhere that is causing you to score lower on test day. One thing that helped me is trying to take practice tests in unfamiliar / slightly noisy environments to simulate test day, like coffee shops and the library. When I started that my score plummeted, but I was able to improve it with practice. I think this helped me on test day considerably. If the issue could be the testing environment, it could be good to try this out for at least a couple of weeks and see how it is.
