Hello!

I am planning on taking the LSAT in June of 2027 but will not be actually applying for law school for quite some time. I am in the military and need to complete my contract first before thinking of my next steps, however I have some down time for the next few months and again before June. All this to ask, if I should include this on my comments after I take the LSAT to let admissions know why my test will be several years old when I apply? If possible, I have more questions and would love to connect 1:1 with and admissions counselor!

  • I am not a counselor, but one thing I can think of that could help is an addendum. That will allow you to explain that gap of test taking v applying.

Thanks! Is the addendum with the test or the law school?

It will be a part of the application so school. Schools have it so people can explain whatever they want and maybe clear up confusing parts of their application, or in your case , why you took the test but didn’t apply right away!

Just speaking from the admissions perspective, you won’t have to explain this gap. We’re familiar with folks in the military applying to law school and know that your LSAT schedule may be dictated by things like deployments and other commitments. We wouldn’t think twice about seeing a year old LSAT result!
