Hi all. For context, I have been out of school for 2 years (working in big law). Have a 3.5 UGPA :(. Got a 162 then a 164 then a 162 again. I think I’m going to apply to some schools where my numbers are around the medians now and retake the lsat in Jan. And hopefully get a better score and apply to the rest then. Is this a bad idea?

If you feel like you can boost your score and if that score increase would help, then it’s worthwhile to take the Jan LSAT.

Regarding applying to some schools now, the first thing to do is reach out and be sure you know what their policy is for reviewing apps that are complete if not for a pending LSAT. What you want to hear is that they’re willing to review your app as it is. If you hear that, then it could make sense to submit those apps in the near future. But check the schools’ policies first!

maybe apply to some of your goal schools where your 164 at least has you within the 25th percentile, I think that would not be a bad idea! I think applying later especially feb could impact your chance, but also if finances matter, that too. I would just encourage you to do what feels right! If you feel like you can broaden the amt of schools you apply to and want to take Jan just to see , do it! I do think it would be good to still apply to some around now so you can have that comfort of knowing you have sent some apps out alr, just not all
