Could we also say that B is wrong on the basis that it says "Being opposed to higher taxes is not a sufficient condition for good leadership", but the stimulus merely says that it makes one "a better leader"? This doesn't inherently mean someone is a good leader just because they oppose higher taxes, it just means they could be better than a bad leader.

Can someone please explain why C is not correct? I didn't quite understand, especially since JY said the stimulus didn't mention botany but it did mention botanists, which in my mind implied botany?

Thanks!

Green Bar Chart

Does anyone know how to interpret the green bar chart over the correct answer in the analytics tab? Does this simply mean that "x"% of students get this question right who are scoring in your score range? Or does it mean that the percent of people getting that question correct achieve the score above each answer choice?

I'm a little confused by this and would love some clarification if people have any!

Thank you both for responding! I figured to stick with what works for me, but was still taken aback when I saw this and wanted to make sure it's not something I should be super concerned about.

Fool Proofing for LR/RC?

Hi everyone!

Was curious to know if anyone has tried the fool proofing method for LR/RC and their results. If people have tried it, have you see a significant improvement in your LR/RC score?

Timing

Hi everyone!

I've recently been doing lots of timed RC passages and notice that when I look at the time breakdown for the passage, I see the target setup time is typically 1:45 - 3:00 minutes, but never longer. My typical "setup times" are in the 3:50-5:00 minute range and then spend 3-4 minutes on questions, whereas the target question time is anywhere from 5-7 minutes.

Is this what everyone is doing? I'm struggling to understand how JY or whoever sets the target setup time is going through these passages and comprehending them well in that quick of a time. I've never thought I was a slow reader, but these setup times are making me think otherwise.

Any tips or thoughts?

Thanks!

Tutor vs. 7Sage

Hi all,

I am studying for the September 2022 LSAT, aiming for the 173+ range (currently PTing around 165/166). I have always been on the fence regarding tutoring, but I am especially confused now. I have recently been utilizing 7Sage and their package with full explanations, but wonder if a tutor would be more effective. I frequently see people scoring in the 99th percentile saying tutors helped a lot and they wish they would've used one sooner, but I can't help but wonder how using 7Sage's package with their detailed analytics is much different or any less effective. I understand tutoring is "tailored" to each student, however, by using 7Sage's analytics, I can easily see where I am having trouble and where I need to concentrate more of my efforts and time, which would essentially be what a tutor would do to tailor their lessons. Also, I feel like working a problem with a tutor just watching might be a little bit of a waste of time; I'm not sure what they could add that JY doesn't in his explanations.

Any thoughts would be appreciated and best of luck to everyone studying!

Nick

I finally figured it out.. A/C "C" reads:

"It concludes that one thing was caused by another although the evidence given is consistent with the first thing's having caused the second".

Here, "the one thing" is referring to specifically to the conclusion, and even more specifically, it is referring to "a higher paying job". Additionally, "was caused by another" refers to "owning a laptop". So in plain, cohesive English, the conclusion is read as: owning a laptop caused one to land/earn/etc. a higher paying job.

While on the other hand, "although the evidence [the premise] given is consistent with the first thing's (the first thing mentioned i.e. the higher paying job) having caused the second (the second thing mentioned i.e. owning the laptop)".

I thought we couldn't attack the conclusion? I know JY says we're attacking the link, but it feels a lot like we're kind of attacking the conclusion. #help
