Are you studying full time?

Yes!

And when you said 3-4 games you didn't mean 3-4 sections of game, right? Just want to be clear.

Yeah, three to four individual games, not sections! That'd be a lot! Sorry for the misunderstanding. (:

Then I say it's way too little especially when you're studying full time. When you go FPing, you wanna hit it hard. When I was FPing, I usually did 6 sections a day. That's 24 games. I did it everyday. I once did 8 sections a day. That's 32 games on a single day. Doing one section everyday won't really help you IMO because it doesn't force your brain enough to adapt to this new way of thinking/inferring.

I'm not sure if I agree with you. Unless you're in a LG bootcamp, 24 or 32 games per day is too much. On average it takes 7 minutes to do a game and at least 25 minutes to foolproof it. That is 600 minutes or 10 hours per day for 24 games. When will you find time to study or do PT or do anything for that matter.

I find that LG is quite personal. If you take a look at the BR sessions we do or webinars we don't really talk about LG that much because it really depends on how much you personally can improve. Some people take very long and some people improve in a month.

With that being said, I think 3-4 games really is not enough. Again if we do a little calculation (sorry I always think mathematically) 4 games per day will do 120 games in a month and you should consider that you have to come back to these games periodically. I do not know how much time you will spend on studying but I will assure you that most of the people who do -0 in the games do all the logic games before they take the exam.

Hi, here's what I would do if I were you.

Go over the course one more time. Concentrate on the drills and quizzes. Skip the Trainer. Give yourself about a month to do the course. That's a bit short but for you it is a re-do so I would argue that one month is probably enough.

After you finish the course, watch this: https://classic.7sage.com/webinar/post-core-curriculum-study-strategies/ This will help.

First, really understand what Blind Review is. Then, you do your PT. You do a Blind Review. Concentrate and spend most of your time on the questions that you miss on Blind Review.

If you need extra thoughts on a specific topic like Must Be True questions, MSS or Flaw or How to Skip Questions take your time and watch these: https://classic.7sage.com/webinar/

If you have questions you can always send me a message and I'll respond as quickly as I can.

Best.

I took the test twice (unfortunately) and I can say that the rooms were pretty quiet. But, in any case, I would advice you prepare yourself for a noisy room. Perhaps, one or two PT in starbucks or the local coffee shop or any other noisy place, just to be extra careful.

@ Wow thank you so much for the detailed reply! I haven't found a pattern on the passages I struggle the most with. Sometimes I understand science passages really well but sometimes I won't. I'm hoping to have a difference answer once I get in the grind of taking more practice tests. I also took note of your book recommendations-- will check them out!

@ Thank you much for the recommendations and advice!!

I hear you. RC is my biggest struggle also and I also did not have a pattern on the passages I struggle the most. After a couple of weeks of intensive studying, I found the problem to be, simply, difficulty. The harder the passage gets, the more convoluted the language is and the more I struggle with it. So, the question is, really, what to do about it?

In one of the tutoring sessions we did with the one and only Sami, she told us to focus our effort on grammar. So, that's what I exactly did. When I read a sentence, I break it down to its essentials. What is the subject? What are we talking about? What are the referential phrases? What is "this" doing here? What does it refer to? When you teach yourself to read the passage like this you immediately notice that the issue is to understand the words written in the passage. If you already know how to do low-res summary, that is, if you already know how to solve the broad question types, then my recommendation would be that you focus on grammar, vocabulary and the mechanics of English. I also keep a vocabulary journal, perhaps that would also help.

And after that, honestly, keep practicing. I found that RC is extremely hard to study. It is incredibly boring, takes a lot of time and effort and the progress is slow. But if you keep practicing, you will improve.

Best.

@ they did make a comeback around the 70s. PT75, 77, 79, 80, 86, 88... they all have em unfortunately. even though they are rare, I would say do not completely ignore them.

PT87? I really really like these BR sessions but can we perhaps do an earlier PT I was keeping the latest PTs for the last couple of weeks? I know most people are doing the same.

@ at this point I wouldn't really be surprised if we get a misc. game in november, again. but I was recently watching one of J.Y's explanation videos for one of the games and he said if you get a game which is odd and unusual try to draw the game board as familiar to you as possible in this way you wouldn't add up complications to the game. it does make sense. perhaps this would help.

@ nikki thank you for your response. you reminded me of some good logic games habits that I may have forgotten. I heard the same thing about circular games in the explanation video for PT88 and I am definitely using it. I also noticed that since I cannot circle the first letter of names of the variables in a logic game after the test went digital I am double checking every rule to not make mistakes.maybe this causes me an extra minute or two in the easier games. I will pay attention to this in the next PT. thank you again for your time and good luck in your studies.

@ thank you for your response and time. staying calm... it's much easier said than done isn't it. At least for me. I have tried multiple exercises and meditations but meditation it's just not for me I am not that kind of a person I think. it's so hard for me to meditate no matter how hard I push myself. anyway, I'll take a deep breath and pray for the best I guess. I am happy that you have the luxury to take the test again. For some of us, that train has left the station :(

@ thank you very much for your response. I also just did PT 77 and also had a very hard time with Game 3. And that's exactly my problem. these misc. games they don't have repetition and require creativity. I hate that. Skipping games... I am a big big fan of skipping questions. In LR is so natural for me. If a question is hard and I can't get it in the first time I just skip. I don't hesitate. But skipping an entire game... I just can't convince myself that the second time I come it will be any easier. And I can't afford going -5 or -6 in LG. or so I think. Perhaps I can...

"And then remember: if you do not know what’s going on, chances are, neither does anyone else. Seriously." You are right. Thank you for your kind words... I appreciate it.

@ I know right? I have fool-proofed PT 88 and I am doing the BR for every test from starting from PT 80 but... I don't know. I love patterns. I love repetition. I love when I have a formula that I can apply to a problem. I hate these misc. games. From game to game, I can't see the pattern in them. That's what gives me trouble. But you're absolutely right. These misc. games I have to fool-proof and I will listen to J.Y.'s BR for PT 88. Thank you so much and I hope the best for your future tests.

I was in the same boat and there is an eye-opening, earth-shattering webinar called the Post-Curriculum Strategies webinar here: https://classic.7sage.com/webinar/post-core-curriculum-study-strategies/

It will clear the air for you and answer all of your questions I promise.

LG Strategy for November!

Hi. Ignore the crappy title.

I am one of the lucky people who wrote the September 2019 test and I just can't forget the LG. If, I hope not, but if history repeats itself and a similar LG section comes up in November test, what will you do different to not fu.k up this time? Even if you did not write the September test, what would your strategy be to handle an unusually difficult LG section? Besides crying of course.

Thank you.

And good luck to my November people. I wish the best for you.

You would receive much better answers if you could tell us a little bit about yourself? For example, what is your score right now? what is your BR score? what are your weaknesses? is time an issue? But, in any case, I for one think that there is no such thing as too much time for BR. If you need 1 week for a BR and you think it is necessary then take your time. In my opinion, less PTs more BR is the way to go.

I think there was a similar question to this so I'll just rephrase what I said in that post. skip the manhattan book there is nothing in there that can teach you in this phase imo. concentrate on the core curriculum. go slow and take your time. never ever skip entire an entire passage or an entire game. do blind review. I'd even go as far as to say that the only way to improve from 160s to 170 is through blind review. deep dive on each question, understand each and every answer choice and come up with a concrete and logical reason why an answer choice is wrong and why the right answer choice is right.
