I'm an American, but taking the October LSAT in Japan, as my husband is active duty military and we are stationed here. I'm sure you'll be fine.

Thanks, y’all! I had to check with my husband - it’s 800 miles round trip, so just 400ish one way. I’ll be heading to the city alone, but I enjoy Tokyo and look forward to the adventure!

Best wishes to you, too, @!!

P.S. it’s me - I just changed my screen name

Hi! I watch the videos from a MacBook and notice that if I move the cursor around the bottom of the screen the controls and speed options will pop up so I can adjust the speed. Otherwise, the controls are not visible while watching the video. Hope that helps!

Hi, I'm in a similar boat. My husband is active duty, and we are overseas, but heading back stateside in May 2019. It will be our last base before retirement, but I'll still be at the mercy of wherever the Air Force sends us. This is good info to know for putting together my applications! Best wishes to you!

Officially registered!

Okay, I just had to tell someone. I am officially registered for the October LSAT (in Asia). We are stationed in northern Japan, so I will be making the 800 mile trek to Tokyo for the exam. Anyone here ever tested overseas? Anyone else testing in Asia? Anyhow, I'm super excited and nervous right now and just had to share. :-)

Hello, I registered for the October LSAT in Asia (live in Japan) with no issues. On the first page, the September dates show for registration deadlines, but at the top it should say that the test date is October 14th. I was able to get through the registration with no problems. Maybe I can help?

Yea, but you can't do that now at this time. Have you registered today?

No, I registered a couple of weeks ago. But I did give it a go on the site to see if it would work again, and it definitely says September (but says I am already registered). I'm pretty sure that when I registered I chose that date and continued on through and later on the correct day popped up. My final registration does say the October date, and I got the confirmation email from LSAC last week for both the September and October tests, though the October one is the one I am actually registered for.

@ I'm really sorry to hear about your situation, and @ gave some really good advice. However, in response to your last post, I just want to say that you shouldn't beat yourself up forever. You made a mistake. It hurts and it sucks big time. But one mistake doesn't define you and if you are meant to be a lawyer, this one mistake will not utterly derail you from that goal. This can be a great learning opportunity for you. You are not a bad person because you made a mistake and please do not beat yourself up forever.

Hi! I wrote the test in Tokyo. I had 2 RC sections, and thankful that the one I felt really good about looks like it was the real one! I got tripped up on some of the LG, though they weren’t totally difficult. So curious to get scores, but I will try to put it out of my mind for a couple of weeks. Hope you all had good testing experiences!

I'll be 37 when I (hopefully) start law school next fall, and am married with one child, who will be 10 when I start. My husband is nearing retirement from the Air Force, but we are both taking this as a sort of transition time to new careers and learning to live the civilian life. I also worry often about how I will balance school and family. I am quite driven, and I always manage to get it done - but I know law school will demand more of me than anything I've ever done. My husband is very very supportive, and I have no doubt that he will step up and take one even more at home with me being tied up. I am concerned about my daughter, who is quite close to me and our only child. I am hopeful that I will find the way to balance and give her the attention she needs. I, too, am studying in hopes of landing a scholarship, because I just cannot see going into such huge debt at this stage of our lives.

Best wishes to you all! I'm sure we will find our way. Many have done it before us, and will do it after us. We will find what works for our own situations and, as our family motto goes, "Do what we must, so we may do what we want."

Thank you for your kind words, @ ! It has been our pleasure these years to be a part of the great Air Force, but we look forward to settling down and trying out life on the civilian side.

Hello!!

Hi, everyone! I have been lurking on the boards for a while, and want to finally reach out and say hello. A little about me ... I'm a military spouse living in Japan, and prepping for the October LSAT (when it is offered here in Asia). I started studying in January of this year, using the Powerscore books, which did help some. My very first PT was a 155, and after 5 good months of studying, I tend to score in the mid 160s (my last PT today was a 166). I am starting the 7Sage CC in hopes of really maximizing my score on the October test. We will leave Japan next May, and my goal is to be ready to start law school in fall 2019. I am older (I'll be 36 at the end of this month) and mother to one amazing daughter, who is 9. My husband's time in the Air Force is winding down, and pretty much works out that his last 3 years of service will be the 3 years I'll be in law school. I'm excited...I'm terrified...I've got all of the emotions! But I really have appreciated this community, and had already started to incorporate some of the techniques in my studying. I decided to spend these last 3 months giving it my very best effort by following the curriculum so that I can rock it on test day.

Nice to "meet" y'all and I look forward to participating in the forums and learning/sharing with you!

@ You bring up some of my considerations, for sure. It would be neat to do a masters program in Germany. I do think I can use this time to explore my interests. I guess I really don't want to feel like I'm just marking time. I'd like to show the adcoms that I took a situation beyond my control and used it help hone my interests and abilities. Thank you all for giving me plenty of food for thought!

Thank you both! You are right that I need to take the time and really plan for what I want my career to look like. I am very hesitant to take on any additional debt as well. I think I found myself in a panic and felt like I needed to do something, anything to feel in control again. But really, this detour can be a good thing and I’m calmer now and will be doing much praying and planning after the October lsat. Thanks again!

Detour in my plans

So, as a military spouse, I am always at the mercy of the Air Force. We live in Japan, and are scheduled to leave here in May 2019. We had intended to move back stateside, and it would be our last base, since my husband is nearing retirement. We just found out that we will be going to Germany instead. I'm super excited - we love Germany, and lived there before. But what now? I am registered for the October LSAT in Tokyo, and I still plan to take it. It does take some pressure off, since I now have additional (like 4 years) to retake and get it right before law school applications. However, I want to make the best use of my time over the 4 years we will be in Germany. My previous education and experience has all been in English and teaching. I see this move as an opportunity to move into something else - but what? I'm even debating getting a JM or perhaps an MBA. I don't know what to do! Help, please! What do I do in these years to stay on track towards law school and continue building a strong application?

@ I'm glad you picked it back up! I know I've had my moments of thinking I'd be better off trying something less demanding, but something inside won't let me go. I agree with @ that we have to take breaks at times. But don't give up! You can do it!
