But Taruskin never "commits" himself to the idea that "typically" high art is made by aristocratic or middle class artists. The "typically" in answer choice D was enough to make me rule it out. We do not know the frequency, and typically implies "most" to me. It would also be weird for us to read the passage and glean from it that if you take Taruskin's POV that you must commit yourself to believing that most high art was made by aristocratic/middle class artists (as opposed to being made by non elite artists commissioned by the elite).
23 is utter bs
only Q i missed on the scored sections for this preptest (first 180!!!)
I truly believe that you have to approach RC so differently than LR. In RC, answers should not be eliminated on small technicalities or weak semantics that are fatal in LR. I have to pretend in RC that I am a person who has not studied the LSAT and I was just asked the question by a friend, and only then have I found that I can get any of these hard ones right.
something that confused me about 19 is that "felons" and "guns" are supposed to be legal until combined, but when I think of felons, I think "illegal."
agreed. this is the second time in RC I've seen the correct answer choice kind of be the psuedo causal/conditional order. D says the socioeconomic flux favored the cakewalk but like you said, it is more that due to the cakewalk's features it was still viable to the wide audience in the socioeconomic flux, or, to state in a cruder less precise way, the cakewalk favored (aka was able to accomodate) the socioeconomic flux.
I got Q3 right but I still feel really uncomfortable with the use of "constant" to refer to the change. Anyone else?
JY keeps saying on Q18 that NGF is necessary for survival but the line he is taking that from only refers to nerve cells "that are affected by NGF" and that are primarily outside the brain and spinal cord. But we can get rid of the answer choices that he relies on the reasoning of NGF being necessary for nerve cell survival to eliminate the answer choice with other reasons why the answer choice is wrong.
i know this is dumb but i only didn't pick A for 6 (before BR'ing and switching to A) because it says "ironically." I shouldn't have ditched the answer choice just for that word, but can someone please explain to me why it is ironic?
