@gabahahaha If you're asking about the Slater question then:
The stimulus says that If Slater wins, then McGuinness will be appointed, which means stator winning guarantees McGuinness's appointment.
Then the stim adds some which I feel is context information about Yerxes being more qualified than McG.
Then it concludes by another conditional with an unless indicator ( Negate sufficient ) which translates to:
"If the polls are NOT ( negate sufficient ) grossly inaccurate, then Slater wins"
Here we can infer only 2 things from the conditional relationships. PGI ( Polls grossly inaccurate ); SW ( Slater wins ); McGA( McG appointed)
First, the situation where polls are NOT inaccurate guarantees Slater winning and Slater winning guarantees McG's appointment.
/PGI -> SW -> McGA ( /PGI -> McGA )
Second, ie the contrapositive, where, if McG is not appointed that guarantees that slater didnt win.
/McGA -> SW -> PGI ( /McGA ->PGI)
Now in the options,
Option B says that McG will be appointed ONLY IF ( Necessary indicator ) the polls are a good indicator, but this is incorrect as we dont have any statement in the stem which tells us Polls being a good indicator as a requirement ie necessity, we just know polls being a good indicator guarantees McGA
Option E directly matches the First inference we had. ( Being a good indicator is also not mentioned in the stimulus and not inaccurate is, but that is a contextual inference we can make from the argument ) Also, we know that McG is not more experiences than Yerxes, therefore we know if the polls are a good indicator, then someone less experienced than Yerxes aka McGA will be elected.
(I feel I have a easier way dismissing claims when I diagram them so if I see Option B and I match the elements to my diagram you can see we dont have /PGI as a necessary in either inferences so its automatically cut as it is not mentioned in the stimulus and move on the next. But also dont rely on diagrams as they are time consuming but do start first with them and then try to visualize as you practice to avoid relying on them. )
I got 3/3 but I took like an insane amount of time. This is quite worrysome that im taking exceptionally long.
In the argument, it says members can access the genie plus pass. but it nowhere states that thats the only way to get the fast pass and the same principle in my mind applies for the pass on the phone? isnt there an assumption that those are the only ways ( to get the pass and to get the pass on the phone, cause can means permitted or typically allowed but no where does it say "only then can they so and so" ) for both the premises? also isnt there another assumption as to all other members must prostrate themselves? as its assuming the pass is needed or else you must take part in the prostration? My point is that it is a strong argument but doesn't it still have assumptions tho reasonable ones? or am I tripping?
@CrispyOats Hi, This is me after 2 months of the original comment, Yes you definitely get faster and much much faster than before. Trust me, Just keep drilling and you'll be fine.
