@GradyGaunt I think the difference is that with the <-> Luke becoming a jedi means that Yoda trained him. Without the <->, Luke could become a Jedi if someone else trained him. So yes, the training in both cases does lead to him becoming a jedi, it is only the matter of if it is the only way.
