@BlueeTulip Ooo okay, I'll give that a try! Thanks! Did you find that with practice you were able to do that implicitly during timed conditions as well?

RC Reading Advice

Hi! This is my second time taking the LSAT; I've been studying for about 6 months total now, and I have progressed well with LR, but I feel like my RC has been stagnant.

I find that my biggest issue is even if I spend 5-6 minutes reading the passage, I don't understand the full meaning (especially with the added timed pressure) and have to rush through the questions. Many say that taking notes on the author's opinions, tone, structure, etc. takes up too much time.

Any advice on what I should do to have better understanding of the passage? Not sure how to truly make myself be more of an "active" reader, as I see with other suggestions.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!!

@KN2025 I had a similar thought process at first, but the stimulus says, "X% OF coverage concerning [candidate]...," meaning it doesn't necessarily have to be the same amount of coverage between the challenger v. incumbent, just that OF the coverage for either party, 54% was negative towards the challenger and 30% was negative towards the incumbent. So if there were 100 reports concerning the challenger, 54 of them were negative; if there were 10 reports concerning the incumbent, 3 of them were negative. The percentage discrepancy still holds up despite there being a difference in the amount of coverage. Hope this helps!

@monmon Oh my gosh, I made the exact same mistake until I read your comment and saw that is was the REPORTERS who voted! I was also between B and D, but ultimately eliminated D because it said the voting behavior is NOT significantly affected by the content, which I interpreted as an eliminated alternate explanation, since it eliminates that potential reversed causal relationship.

@Gregmjr Yes! I had a similar thought process behind it. I broke down the argument with lawgic, and figured that since Arab translators are able to translate Greek into Arabic, they can clearly understand Greek. So if there wasn't enough public demand for the Poetics to be translated into Greek, then the translators (who were nevertheless interested in the Poetics) still kept them, just untranslated.

Finding Split-Passage RC Drills

Hi! One of my big RC weaknesses is split-passages; however, when I try to customize my RC drill, I can't seem to find the split-passage option anywhere in the tags or question types. Is there any way I could work on those specifically?

I would appreciate any help!

I feel like C requires too strong of an assumption to make. Just because people recognize that it is unrepresentative, doesn't mean that they have accurate beliefs about society, especially when the stimulus notes that people are "often moved by anecdotes" (which could be interpreted as them having a change in their belief system).

I chose D because the stimulus implies that statistical information is correct, yet rarely paid attention to. So, if anecdotes are more popular, and are able to make accurate statistical information for comprehensible, then that is how the general population is able to acquire accurate information about society, thus having accurate beliefs.

🙃 Confused

Understanding RC Passages

Hi! This is my second time going through the LSAT, and I realized one of my biggest issues on the RC is that when I read through, even if I highlight or take notes, I don't grasp the information and have to waste time by going back into the passage while answering questions. I find that I am subconsciously substituting note-taking for understanding, and even though I can summarize the main points into a quick note, that understanding does not get engrained into my head and I find myself needing to go back into the passage to answer the questions, thus wasting time. Furthermore, the act of note-taking itself wastes time, so I am not sure what the best approach is to efficiently read through the passage without having to go back into the passage to answer most/every question.

I would really appreciate any advice!
