In the problem where it says " Her action was not motivated by self-interest in any way" wouldn't that statement close the circular argument and make the conclusion valid?
It is stated that:
"If an action is performed out of self-interest, then it should not be considered generous"
An action is performed. (She donates money)
The action is then defined in a subsequent premise as:
"Her action was not motivated by self-interest"
1)Self-interested acts aren't generous
2)The act she did was not self-interested
According to premise and conclusion, what she did IS generous.
Is there some ambiguity here im not seeing?
