Another example could be imagining an entrepreneur pitching their business plan to an investor. The entrepreneur says they are going to make do $3M in sales next year. The investor's job is to probe the assumptions - weaken the argument. What if they don't get to the market share they expect, or don't achieve the margins, or interest rates go up again, etc. It makes $3M seem less likely.
