Yeah definitely file a complaint. I would’ve felt the same and I’ve reported this same problem when taking tests much simpler than this one. This test is especially difficult to focus on with noise in the background because it requires so much focus.

😖 Frustrated

Bad test day experience-need advice

Basically laptop died because although it was plugged into the charger I didn’t realize the power outlet I was using was defective(it randomly stopped working).

I have 3 options if my complaint is approved

1)don’t cancel score+preview(I was in section 4 question 10 when it shut down so I would be missing a lot of points, however there is a good chance it was an experimental section. My performance on the other sections was mid, I don’t expect a score higher than 156-158 if it was experimental. Obviously much lower if it wasn’t)

2)Retest on Jan 21. This is probably the worst option because instead of getting my results late Jan I would probably get them mid Feb which would be very late for law schools apps.

3)Pick any available test date. I think this might be the best option. I can pick a later date, have lots of time to improve my score, and apply next cycle.

Thoughts?

damn I got accommodation but didn’t know I could request that. The meds I take for my condition make me very drowsy idk how I’m gonna push through on test day💀

Been there. I’ve taken pts where I scored -0 on one section and -15 on another. Some are just more difficult than others and sometimes I’m just really tired. Best thing we can do is learn from our mistakes and move on.

Burn out

Been studying daily 6+ hours for 2 months in preparation for the Jan 10 LSAT

I’ve definitely seen progress, I’ve jumped 20 points from my diagnostic

This week has been the worst tho I’m not doing good on prep tests and Im crashing out

I’m thinking I should just take it easy until exam day, focus on timed drills and reviewing cram sheets instead of daily pts so that I’m not dealing with burn out on exam day. Is this a good plan or should I push through with the pts?

@Orangesunshine, late reply

I also don’t diagram because it’s too confusing and I’m able to answer without it. I think the problem is you say you’re not diagraming but you’re still assigning numbers which is not helpful😅 this is a sufficient assumption question so the only thing you need to looking for is a missing link between premise and conclusion

The premise tells us that there are biology majors taking FL

They then jump to a conclusion that says therefore some students taking FL are not FL majors.

We need a something to link bio major to definitely not a fl major: answer e gives us that link by making it impossible to major in both bio and French.

Assigning numbers would only work if this was a must be true question but it’s not, we’re trying to make the conclusion true by adding an assumption.

The easiest way to solve this is to focus on the quantifier

We know from the passage that metabolic activity= oxygen use

If area x is responsible for MOST (the majority) of the metabolic activity is it also responsible for MOST of the oxygen use? According to the passage yes

and that makes the rest of the brain areas responsible for the minority of the oxygen use. So area x’s oxygen use is higher than the rest of the brain.

The only support this answer needs from the passage is the relationship between brain activity, metabolic activity, and oxygen use

all are supported in the passage

That’s it that’s all this answer is talking about is when metabolic activity increases oxygen use increases, there is no mention of mechanisms used or anything like that.

@NickShelzi you’re right that according to the passage it doesn’t but according to the answer it does because the answer choice is literally saying those areas are in fact the most metabolically active so what does that make the rest of the brain(this is tricky because they’re not talking about the baseline they’re taking about the rest of the areas the ones that are not most metabolically active) well if like the answer is saying we have an area or areas that are responsible for the majority of the metabolic activity then by default the rest of the areas of the brain are responsible for the minority of the metabolic activity. The only way this answer is relevant to the passage is that the passage supports that there is a relationship between mental activity and metabolic rate/oxygen use.

Nope definitely possible my pt history is nearly identical lol. I will say I did fall back into the 150s after my 164 so definitely keep practicing you can never be too sure.

@ratootie it’s just a different way of wording it

In order for the conclusion to follow(motivated purely by snobbery) the historian would need to exclude(think of it like eliminate or rule out) all other possible motivations. Without this the conclusion doesn’t follow.

😖 Frustrated

preparing for next week’s exam😣

Is prep test 156 unusually difficult or am I just really burnt out?

I’ve been doing prep tests every other day to prepare for the January exam

I took Pt156 today and by far I think it’s the most difficult one I’ve taken(it’s not my worst score but the questions were so tough I was on the verge of tears)

On that note are there any rules on test day that say anything about silently crying? just in case lol

I got it wrong but I think I understand this type of flaw now

Lack of strong argument for x does not equal support for y

Similar to how lack of evidence does not equal evidence.

@HollyShulman how do reach the conclusion that chefs must follow social norms in order to benefit from them? Since there are no sanctions what stops them from stealing others recipe and also benefiting from the social norms that stop others from stealing their own recipes?
