Hi, if you prefer, you can message me to set up a zoom meeting, so we could sit down, looking through your progress and discussing your thought process when taking the LR section. I currently average -3 in LR. Let me know! EDT time zone, available after 5:30 PM on weekdays and anytime on weekends.

I read in some other posts (possible powerscore ones), some students just don't underline at all in RC and still achieve 0,-1. At the end, most RC method posts will end up with "finding a method that works the best for you". It seems like that not underline is the method for you.

The essence of RC is its sturcture. So as long as you keep an eye for sturcture during the reading, underline is not necessary. It is just a tool for some students to analyze sturcture better.

Don't do that! You have more than half month left and the time is sufficient to adjust to PT80+ mind set. PT80+ focuses on abstraction and nunce, kinda of a different focus than previous PTs. But the skills are the same.

It is normal to be in a shocking mod and exprience lower score (I have been there, now I actually like 80+ more than previous PTs). Don't let the lower score deter you, LSAT takers must be brave enough to confront with you weakness/fear and persistently getting to the roots of the questions.

For August and October exam, PT80+ (after 83) is the best exmaples to give you a taste of what you can expect at exams. So use them wisely, get to the roots of the questions!

You will do great! Upset is only temporary if you don't let it threaten you.

Also luck is part of the exam, if you can have more opportunties to take the exam, take it

LSAT study has some speical and funny patterns. Sometimes, the more you learn, maybe it seems the lower score you get. That's because the nature of LSAT study reqiures most people to reformat their skills. On you way to a better score, you will be forced to relinquish old habits and adopt better ones.

So it is normal, not always (reasons vary from cases to cases), to see scores get even lower as you study more (temporarily).

The general trend for August and October exam is abstraction and nuance. To better target the trend. I strongly suggest to finish 80-89 pretest before your exam and especially starting after PT 85. Really study how nuance in answer choices make them incorrect.

Yes 80-89 are different from ealry PTs, but the fundamental skills are the same (your past study is helpful).

Hope it helps and best luck on your future exams!

LSAT requires your mental clarity to have stable and better results. Yes, fluctuation is sure common, but don't accept it eaily. Fluctuation means you have questions you did right but were not completely understood by you.

Don't just proceed and think fluctuation is normal and you probabaly will do great. Get to the roots of it.

There are still 18ish days left. If you use the time wisely, you could score 170+. Additionally, I talked to former admission officers and they all said the best time to apply is before Thanksgiving. So October test will work.

I am also aiming to host some free tutoring sessions in this application cycle to give back to the 7sage community (hope I could be helpful). If that's something you are interested in and you are searching for a study buddy too, that will be awesome!

Hi 7sager friends,

I hope to form a small study group with 1 to 2 dedicated people in the low 170 range (PT or exam score) to review RC/LR sections for the August/October exams.

Some information about myself:

My current score is 171.

I work full time (graduated college in 2020), and my availability is after 6:30 PM on weekdays and anytime on weekends.

EDT Zone

Some concern:

Please don't ghost (don't act out of temporary passion). Leave a comment down below/message me if you really think the schedule and this format fit your own preference. I hope we could all benefit from the setting.

Please try to be an effective communicator. Reply to message, and if something concerns you, please communicate. Thanks!

Please take accountability, respect each other's time.

I haven't decided the meeting frequency and will discuss it later with my study buddy/buddies.

If you could introduce yourself a little to me, that will be gold. Thx!

If you have any questions about me, feel free to message/comment too. Thx!

Best,

Val

The above post is absolute right. The highest score is what matters the MOST. Law schools' ranks used to rely on the average of all test scores, so your lowest score matters. However, the ranking system changed to rely on ONLY the highest score. As materialistic/realistic as law schools' admission offices (they really really care about their admission stats, ranks and employment stats), it is safe to say that multiple takes' and some lower scores' influence is minor.

The link above helps explain the panic after the exam, and the result, most of the time, ends up better than you predict.

The technical question: will canceling affect my applications negatively?

US News posts and former admission officers' info section mentioned that once won't hurt the applications. You just need to explain in the applications about why canceling: sick, anxiety, etc

My personal opinion judging by posts I read about law school applications, a lower score trend is probably worse than one canceled score, but not detrimental at all!

We are just discussing the strategy above. You might feel you want to see the score you get after a two-month heart-pouring effort, and I think it is also perfectly fine.

Just breathe and stay calm. You will do great!

Hi friend, just to update you with an info I get from my Spivey consultant. I got low 170 in June exam (aiming for 175+) and he encouraged me to take August exam no matter I am prepared or not. He said it doesn't matter whether the score turns out to be lower than my June exam or not. He just stresses the importance to take the exam whenever you can (luck is part of this test) and the highest core is the one that matters. Even if the August score turns out to be lower, it won't impact my application.

yes, don't let it brother you too much. My score went down a week before the June exam and I still scored higher than the previous week average. Just be confident and careful during the exam. No need to over think

I disagree with ""havinagrattim"'s suggestion. If you are aiming for 172+ and your current PT is around 165, it is prefect fine to take the exam, by fine, I mean it won't have a negative impact on your applications. In fact, I will argue you should, since experience taking real exam will help you better prepare for future ones.

Powerscore post said 90 won't be released today. The date is TBD.

If you want fresh PT to gauge for August exam, I suggest not to do so because of the potential stress it can cause to do a whole PT before exam.

You will be better of reviewing your past answers.

From my experience chatting with others, the chances can vary. But on a positive note, I have a friend who applied in the 2017 cycle (gradated in Penn with mediocre GPA, LSAT 165), didn't get into T14 first time he applied. Then he worked 1 year at a small law firm in Hong Kong. Applied Harvard using the same GPA and LSAT, got in.

The reason for this progression might be that international students seldom works before applying. Thus, his work experience makes him very competitive.

To boost your chances, a higher LSAT score help a lot. Keep me posted and good luck!

Many other student have asked similar questions about whether something is possible with limited time. Honestly, nothing is impossible and a good attitude can always make condition better. If you are not thinking about postponent, just tell yourself you can do it without worrying and anxiety.

For people who chose B, just review the definition of "Mang", which ranges from 2 to 100. Then you will realize that the statement doesn't strengthen the argument because it has already fulfilled by the sentence that "some" event A follow event B.

I strongly rec ppl to read through LSAT Trainor's LR section if you struggle to hit 170+ (got 4 to 6 errors on LR part). For example, the book talked about how some attractive weakening answer choice weakens the author's point, not the argument itself. When asked to weaken the argument, we are asked to weaken the bond between support and conclusion. Not just weaken the support or the conclusion, but their relationship. This question, the bond gap is clearly a "piece =/ puzzle" type. Where the family environment and school environment didn't aid much does not sufficiently prove that environment has little effect. What about other pieces?

Answer A is only talking about one of the premises about the family environment. It is not about the gap between support and conclusion.

Confirm action

Are you sure?
