I suppose a part of me knew the correct answer was C, but I could not wrap my head around the generalization that jokes work by breaking repeated patterns - I can come up with a number of funny jokes that follow whatever repeated pattern I choose! Jokes come in all shapes and sizes! That's the magic of jokes! They're endless!
Alas, the answer is definitely not E (#RIP).
I find it so frustrating when JY suggests we underline a segment of the passage or draw a question mark/arrow/etc next to a paragraph. Most of us are not taking this exam on a piece of paper!! All we can do is write notes in the margins and I find this is not as clear an indication of what goes where as the ability to write directly within the margins of the passage would provide. Any tips on how to overcome this limitation??
