I get way too distracted at home... I go to my alma mater's library (they just built an amazing new library extension!) on the weekends when I can park on campus easily. During the week, I flip in between casual restaurants and my church's student center. I go to one place (a chain called Taziki's) with great outdoor seating so much that the general manager gave me a $15 gift card the other day because when I go to study "I stay longer than most of his employees," haha. I only ever buy kids meals or a soda when I go, so $15 will go a long way! I study from around 12:30 (after I get off my part-time job) until 4:30-5, so after the lunch crowd thins out, I have the place pretty much to myself for several hours.

Have you tried anti-anxiety medication? My sister had horrible test anxiety and increased her test scores in nursing school by a letter-grade after getting a Rx anxiety medication to take on test days. If you have established care with a primary care doc and explain the situation/provide documentation on test scores, it shouldn't be hard to get an Rx.

Please note: I don't think everyone should turn to Rx meds to solve their problems, but do think certain cases can seriously benefit from them (esp. when other options have failed). Anyone with a history of addiction or substance abuse should find a different method to cope with extreme test anxiety.

Thank you so much, @! I really appreciate your insight. I will give that method a try!

I wish I had made the decision to wait on law school before graduating. My senior year was quite stressful with the LSAT, personal statements, and applications looming overhead on top of everything else. I wasn't ready for the LSAT first-take, but felt like I had to take it to "stay on track." I had friends going straight in and felt like I had to keep up/get in right away because they were. Then I talked to a recent law school grad who went straight through and said he WISHED he had taken a year off before entering law school... He was one of the youngest in his JD class, didn't have much real-world work experience, and said that he feels he would have performed better his first year with a break from school beforehand. I made the decision to wait, work on the LSAT, and get a job rather than going to a school below my potential because of a less than ideal score. I don't regret sitting out. I graduated in December and have a full time job in a medical office (I plan on doing some sort of healthcare law) and have gained so much insight into the healthcare industry. In the grand scheme, 1 year isn't that long. You won't be behind or less perfect than anyone who goes K-JD. Do what's best for you - whether that's going straight in or waiting.

Improve RC by June

The school I'll be attending this fall said I could increase my scholarship by improving my LSAT score (even by 1 point!). So... What do you guys suggest I do to increase my RC score in such a short period? I rock games (thank you FP method!) and LR is my second best section, but RC was averaging -12 when I was PTing before the Dec test... I run out of time AND miss questions on the passages I am able to get through.

My Ultimate + ran out about a month ago, but I have hard copies of most PTs and have the Starter to review CC.

Thanks!

My sister had extreme test anxiety in nursing school. She didn't have full out panic attacks, but would get so overwhelmed and anxious she would blank on material she knew. She started taking an anti-anxiety medication on test days and went from making C's and lower on exams to high A's. You may want to talk to your primary care provider about getting something for test anxiety.

Splitter - LSAT Lower than GPA

I'm pretty sure I didn't do very well on the Dec LSAT. My average PT score dropped 10 points a month before the test (I was devastated) and it didn't vastly improve before test day. I'm wondering what my chances of getting in my back-up school are if my GPA is over their 75% and LSAT is under their 25% (by two points, which is where I'm thinking I'll land after scores come out). My resume includes a lot of volunteer work, leadership awards and positions, and work experience. I worked through undergrad and am currently working full time as the HR coordinator of a large physicians practice (I'm interested in health care law).

Any thoughts or advice? Is it even worth applying if my LSAT ends up under the school's 25%?

I've done a lot of research on this and overwhelmingly the consensus is no, it is not tacky, and is actually totally expected. The worst that can happen is they decline to offer you more $. Read some articles about how to tactfully craft your request, though.

Thanks! That's along the line of what I was thinking - worst that can happen is they say is "no."

Scholarship Neg. w/o Much Leverage

Should I bother asking for more $ even though I don't have much leverage as far as other schools with better offers? I haven't paid the fist seat deposit yet, so maybe that would be considered? Looking at the law school numbers site, two people have been accepted after my group with lower LSAT and GPA and were offered the same amount...

Thoughts?

Should I Cancel My Score?

I started experiencing some nausea and other issues from inner-ear problems about a week ago. I thought I was well enough to take the LSAT since my symptoms were pretty mild except in the evenings, but after adding in test-day nerves I was pretty sick by the time the test started. I ended up leaving briefly to throw up during one section, so I didn't finish it. I had 2 LG sections - one I felt really good about (finished with time to spare and was confident in my answers) and the other I tanked (answered the first game and felt confident, but guessed on almost all the others). The harder LG was the last section, by which time I was pretty brain dead and flustered from having left during the test to vomit... I just found out from the Feb 17 LSAT discussion board that my bad section was the real one and not the experimental...

Should I cancel my score or wait and see if I scrape a good enough score to apply to back up schools while I wait for the June LSAT? Which would be worse - a canceled score or bad score with an addendum that I was ill on test day?

-French/Russian Language

^ I had a few messages from people saying they did not recall this LG. Can someone without an experimental LG let me know what the last game was? So far, we have:

-Gold/Silver Vases/Plates

-12-Week Class Schedule

-Transcribing & Preparing for Interviews

French/ Russian was the very first game in the set. It was easy enough, then you hit the rest of them...

Someone please help!!! Was the LR question about a movie review where it asked what phrase the second speaker misinterpreted real???

Yes! I had that one and my experimental section was LG.

The other (closed) thread called the copper tool/canoe LR question experimental. That was definitely real.

There was also one about an ancient fish with fingers, if that hasn’t been mentioned yet.

I had the finger fish. Definitely real, since I had 2 LG sections.

Don’t list baby sitting as a “job” if you were paid under the table. ie if someone just handed you cash and you didn’t pay taxes on it. If you want to include it maybe just list “childcare” in your interests.

Don't worry, I pay taxes on all taxable income! That's a good thing to consider, though, since a lot of sitters don't...

Are you sure?
