P: Accounting framework must take into account all of nation's assets in order to be dependable.

C: current accounting framework assigns no value to natural resources, which are clearly assets.

MSS: looking for something textual.

A: This is not stated and is irrelevant.

B: What if they agree just a little bit?

C: I believe this to be the correct answer because if this is true, we have a solution to this paradox. If it assigns no value to something that supposedly has value, something is wrong.

D: How do we know this? Really, every nation??

E: we would have to jump to assumption that change in environment is a gov't owned natural resource??? Not even sure if that is the correct jump, but this is clearly not it.

P: Neuroscientists say states of profound creativity are accompanied by increase of theta brain waves. These occur in multiple spots in brain and in hippocampus.

P2: Listening to music increases theta waves dramatically.

C: one can attain a state of profound creativity by listening to tape of music.

Analysis: these two ideas are in correlation with one another.

FLAW Prephrase: It is actually a mix of things that impacts the way one perceives the music.

A: the hippocampus does not have anything to do with our argument.

B: this was specifically confusing, however, wrong because this is not the flaw that is occurring.

C: Premise mentions listening to music. Conclusion mentions tape. Therefore, tape is a type of music and is considered.

D: this is the correlation answer choice. Correct because in a correlation, sometimes you see the two together and sometimes you do not. this is in contrast with causal where when you have A, you have B.

E: relatively opposite.

P1: There are pesticides that have been banned in the US for over 30 years yet still get manufactured and exported.

P2: these pesticides are used on agriculture imported to the US.

C: This jeopardizes the health of other countries and increases risk for US consumers.

Weaken prephrase: Something in production counters the effects/durability of the pesticides and becomes null.

A: I guess this plays on the intuition that we are still eating these pesticides anyway, so it doesn't really matter. But this has does not directly wreck the increase in risk. Trace amounts = small, how much can that really weaken?

B: This is really tricky, but ultimately I think that the words "certain pesticides" in the stimulus are the way around saying most (B). This potentially could be true, but the certain may be outside the scope of the most.

C: I like the wording of the pesticides that are banned. This is same subset that we want. If other countries do this too, then we cannot focus very solely on the United States?

D: But so what? Just because they pose a greater risk outside US does not mean that it still doesn't increase health risk in US.

E: This does not weaken the increasing health risk in US

NOTE: When it seems like a good argument, go for the bridge that connects the two.

P: Our country should not be the model for any country since our country has the least fair court system of any country on the continent.

C: highest court is the least fair on the on the continent and should not be emulated by other countries.

Parallel flaw: part to whole? I mean just because the court system is least fair does not mean one individual court, the highest court, is unfair.

A: not part to whole flaw // not really sure what it is, but it isn't what we are looking for.

B: This is it! Because x is the hardest, the classes for x must be the hardest. What if the intro courses are easier than any other in the department (lol, yes)?

C: HA this is confusing because it says the word "part" but is not a part to whole flaw. Compares two different cars.

D: ok what lol this is not even remotely close to the model.

E: This doesn't even seem like a flaw. Might be unethical, but it is strategic and definitely does not represent the part to whole structure that we are looking for.

P1: Governments should do all that it can to improve the wellbeing of children in the society that they govern.

P2: if subsidized, day care will be available to families of all income levels

C: Gov't should finance high quality day care

NA Prephrase (bridge gap): If a government actually tries to do all it can to improve wellbeing, they should finance high quality day care. OR children would benefit from this.

A: what if there are other ways of taking an interest in well-being of all children other than subsidizing day care? The ONLY scenario.

B: goes on a tangent not related.

C: This is not what it is saying. Gov't is not even involved in this AC.

D: Some = weak language, good. Since we know that gov't should finance day care, it makes sense that at least some children would benefit!

E: ok? nowhere are we talking about private enterprises.

P: No new recent cases of polio in North America. Approx 12 new cases of polio each year in North America still because of OPV. Substituting IPV would cut cases of vaccination causing polio in half.

C: Time to switch to IPV as most common used Polio Vaccine in North America.

Weaken prephrase: What if IPV causes some other things that are bad that?

A: It is already under control (naturally) therefore by allowing new cases of natural, this destroys the idea that we should switch to IPV.

B: I initially read this wrong. This does not weaken that we should switch to IPV.

C: Still does not give reason to believe we should not switch to IPV. Odds of OPV does not make a case for IPV.

D: Who cares what most x do.

E: Tricky AC for me because it matched my prephrase. But what does a slight risk of a small subset do?

The temperature decreases as one progresses upwards in the Troposphere. The range of air temperature at the top is -50 (poles) to -85 (equator). Stratosphere begins. Temp stops decreasing & it increases as one moves upwards. Strat is warmed by ozone and heat is generated when ozone particle absorbs dose of ultraviolet sunlight.

MBT

A: Maybe this AC is trying to make the assumption that thickness makes it hard for ozone to heat? This is a pretty massive jump though...

B: I think it says the opposite, where it warms moving towards the equator.

C: unsupported: "as one progresses up..."

D: I was initially skeptical, however at least as great = is larger.

E: Reaching at things that we do not know.

Many people are hypocritical by often appearing to be more morally upright than they actually are. When exposed, hypocrites are embarrassed by their moral lapse which motivates them to try to become better people. In contrast, if hypocracy exists without exposure, the belief that most people are good comes up, which motivates most people to try to be good.

MSS

A: no one? morally blameless?

B: This is must. Hypocracy, whether existing or not, is shaping people's moral actions. Either way, they are becoming good.

C: I can tell this would be a tricky AC if skimmed over. Existence of hypocracy in some (fine) is then not consistent with the others fall into moral lapses. The ones who fall into moral lapses are the ones who's hypocracy is exposed.

D: How do we know which is better? Where is this textually said?

E: no stronger motivator? really?

Need to recognize that in either way, it leads to becoming good.

P: Some rules in some societies are so important that they are considered duties: for example rules that restrict violence and uphold agreements. In the notion of a duty, fulfillment is so fundamental to a properly functioning society that people cannot be excused from fulfilling this because it would be contradictory to their self interest.

C: This shows that _.

Fill in the blank prephrase: something that links self interest to rules and duties in society?

A: overrate? How does this relate to anything?

B: no, some societies can have people that are just not self interested? Or maybe rules and duties do not contradict with their version of "self interest".

C: Correct & the only AC that mentions "self interest".

D: where/what is the priority?

E: but we have accepted that the fulfillment is fundamental to a properly working society. This AC contradicts what we know to be true in this world.

Ctx: When businesses evaluate big purchases, often the only consideration is whether there is enough monthly revenue after paying monthly costs.

P: Many expenses do not occur monthly. Only monthly expenses cause businesses to overexpand.

C: Use of cash-flow statement is crucial for all businesses.

Strengthen prephrase: Cash-flow statements track monthly and nonmonthly finances.

A: We are looking for an answer that goes beyond just monthly.

B: The conclusion states that cash-flow statements help all businesses. No new information is presented here.

C: Kind of confused by this AC... Why would this indicate that cash-flow statements are critical?

D: YES. We want both monthly and nonmonthly to be tracked, hence why it is critical for all businesses. This will track the nonmonthly finances while cutting overexpansion.

E: Where are better decisions coming from?

P: Displacement pulse is a new type of seismic shock found in all earthquakes. Computer models show that high rise buildings are specifically in danger to displacement pulses.

C: When computer examinations analyzed high rise buildings in cities that have recently undergone powerful earthquakes, little significant damage appears.

Resolve the paradox prephrase: What if high rises in cities are sturdier than other places? Or what if computer models are overly sensitive/have the tendency to be incorrect?

A: How does distance relate to this paradox?

B: The computer model failing is exactly what I was looking for. Paradox = resolved.

C: This was already believed to have occurred in our premises. Taking this as true does not resolve anything. If anything, it makes our paradox stronger.

D: Ok, but we are told in the stimulus that recent powerful pulses are not significantly damaging high rises. So why does it matter that low to medium are less powerful?

E: If this were to be true, it would certify that we have a paradox?

C: International efforts to protect the natural habitats of endangered species of animals are wasted.

P: The rate of species becoming extinct continues to rise.

No humanity in this argument :(

Weakening prephrase: Any effort to preserve natural habitats is in some way helpful for endangered species.

A: The issue was never about preserving the habitat. It is about the financial investment of preserving & not helping the animals survive as it should- making it"wasted".

B: pretty much sums up the prephrase!

C: on the scale of neutral to strengthen

D: how does this weaken the argument? Where is tourism coming from?

E: Introducing a new program does not impact the argument that the current situation is a waste.
