How did you guys fool proof after the CC? I'm getting through the CC fine, but with certain question sets as they get more difficult I'll start getting 3/5 or 2/5. Do you full proof by using the Q Bank? I don't want to waste material.

@ LOL I just have to put this out there, your username makes me laugh so much! I can only imagine showing up and saying, "Hey are you Mr. buttons?"

Ok ok lol, lets set up a group me and then others can join if they'd like. I think some of the CUNY's allow the public to use their libraries. Hunter College might be a good middle point for the boroughs. PM me with your #

@ PM me too!

Hi all,

I work on 7th ave and could totally meet up after 5:30pm. Is there a group me for this? I'd love to get involved.

Hi guys,

Not sure if this is normally asked but I want to ask anyway because I want to know what it means when I run into it. Can someone reference an example of this and what it essentially means in an argument part question? Its such a simple term but I can't conceptualize this into words. Thanks.

For reference I ran into this in 27.1.17

Full time job+Study schedule? How do you do it?

Hey guys,

So I work full time and I've just upgraded to the Ultimate + Package woohoo! Now, I made my study schedule so that it would end on February 7th a couple days before the LSAT. The way the schedule is set up I study 40.5 hours of material each week. I even find myself studying during lunch. I wish there was a way to alter it so it would cater to my full time work schedule. But anyway, how do you guys manage?

@ Thank you! There were so many people in that thread, I just don't think people know how to get added to the group. Are we going to use that platform 7Sage uses for their webinars?

About 83 comments later, I haven't seen any concrete study calendar or plan. Is anyone spearheading this study group? How does that work? I think that for the November group we should get started as soon as possible. Who's the person in charge? How do people normally get this started?

I couldn't agree more with the above sentiments. I initially started with 7sage but I needed a different less methodical way of explaining. I'm not great with memorizing and recalling certain key words JY tells us to pay attention to and the Trainer helped me see the bigger picture in terms of how I should be approaching a question. It helped provide a holistic overview. I can't thank it enough. Coming back to 7Sage, it has really helped me focus in on what JY has been saying all along.

This is what someone told me:

Weakening ------ RRE

This one is a little harder to see so I'll use an example.

There are 100 people on a cruise ship and half take Dramamine, a pill that's supposed to help with sea sickness. Despite this, of the 50 people who took Dramamine, 13 reported symptoms of sea sickness. Of the 50 people who didn't take Dramamine, only 2 reported symptoms of sea sickness.

That's a classic setup (stimulus) for a RRE question. What's the resolution? You have to think about who would take Dramamine in the first place. Likely those people who anticipated getting sea sick. No one pops pills for fun... wait, never mind. Anyway, the resolution here is that people who are more inclined to get sea sick are more inclined to take Dramamine in the first place. If those 50 people instead did NOT take Dramamine, then likely all 50 would have gotten sea sick. That's the classic reconcile answer choice.

It's very easy to make this into a Weakening question. We just have to add a silly conclusion. For example: Therefore, Dramamine is ineffective in preventing sea sickness.

Previously, we didn't have a conclusion so there was no argument. Now we have a conclusion so we have an argument. How do we weaken this argument? We say the same thing. People who are more inclined to get sea sick are more inclined to take Dramamine in the first place.

I know this is three days late, but just in case you need more convincing. I'm on lesson 9 in the LSAT Trainer and it has SIGNIFICANTLY helped solidify what JY teaches on here. I tried to look at Power Score but it wasn't for me.

PT1.S3.Q04, PT1.S4.Q21

Totally dropped the ball on both of these. Help?

For Q4: I thought D was totally wrong and I was completely sure of it because I thought to myself, "How could we possibly know what's in the best interest for the military?" I fell for answers A, C (second choice).

For Q21: I had no idea that "some" came into the mix; totally out of left field.I picked A even though I knew it made no sense. It just made the most sense.

Maybe a weekly #help discussion post where people who aren't getting the help they need can ask away? Also, maybe a weeding out of #help questions that can be easily answered in the CC.

Distinguishing MBT, SA, and NA

Ok so I feel as though I am interchanging methods of finding the answer for each of these questions. They're so similar to me and its starting to give me a headache. Can someone lay out in layman's terms how to approach these question types? These are the types I'm having trouble with and MBT are supposed to be freebies. Also is there a chart somewhere that outlines how often each question type appears on the LSAT?

Hey guys,

So I plan on taking the September '18 LSAT. If I see improvement earlier then I'll take a stab at the June '18 test. But as you can see I'm one of those think far into the future/meticulous planner types. By the time Sept hits I feel as though LORs from my undergrad (2016 grad) will look inadequate because of how long ago it'll be. I definitely have professors I could contact (Calculus/Africana Studies/English) but I'm not sure an admissions committee will feel confident in letters written by people who can't attest to my best qualities at present time. I do have one person (fellow Board member from a local grassroots NGO/mentor) that will definitely write one for me but that's not enough by far.

Now here's my real question: After undergrad I simply worked, but I don't see my employer as beneficial additions to my overall application. I mean don't get me wrong my employers love me to pieces but I work in a field that is completely unrelated to law or anything I'm passionate about. Funny thing is I work at a medical school, Haha the irony. What are your thoughts on getting LORs from employers? Do you think getting LORs from professors is too late at this point? Would that look bad?

I got a pet to help with my anxiety. I'm not advising this as a cure for depression and anxiety but what I hope you take from this comment and all comments is that you **CAN** find something in order to combat these things in your way. Through trial and error find what works for you.

Joint Degree Programs Anyone?

I would love to do a joint degree program. Specifically I'd like to either obtain a J.D. M.P.P or J.D. PhD in government. What sucks is that I'll have to study for my GRE right after I take my LSAT (crap :() But anyway I wanted to see if anyone is thinking on a similar line? Is anyone else interested in joint degree programs? If so where? Also do you think it would aid in my wanting to delve into either International Relations or NGO or Immigration work (I wish there was a job that encompassed all three haha. I'm indecisive)? Are these joint degree programs a waste of time/money? Any and all thoughts welcome.

Transferring to a T14?

I've spoken to a couple of law students who have started out at one law school and transferred into a T14. Is this full proof? Or will a T14 look into your current law school's ranking for your consideration? I wonder about this often. Any and all stories welcome.

Studying for the February 2018 LSAT anyone else? Am I the first to post? Is it necessary to study for this long period of time? Will anyone ever see my topic? Find out next year!

Hi guys,

@ @ just pm me your # and I’ll add you to the group chat. We had our first meet up at the Ny PL but there wasn’t much space at the location we were looking at. We’re looking into using someone’s conference rooms at their job in manhattan.

Splitter Stories??

Hey guys,

I've been doing research online about Splitters (Low GPA, High LSAT Score vice versa) and a lot of it is outdated. Does anyone else have any splitter stories they'd like to share? I'm interested to know if T14s still accept splitters. Or what these splitters showcased aside from GPA and LSAT scores that made them valuable candidates.

Thanks in advance!

Ultimate Package Worth It? (For Feb 2018)

Hello everyone I'm still undecided about which package I should buy. Just a little background:

I've studied from Feb2017-April2017 and I have begun studying again in August. I'm looking to aim in the 175+ range. Should I bite the bullet and get the Ultimate. I wouldn't want to give my diagnostic scores because they aren't timed, therefore not accurate. But does anyone have any advice on whether or not the Ultimate is that big of a leap from the next course below?

Note: Due to my severely poor GPA I NEED to score 175+ (URM+Financial Issues+ Rough Background)

Thank you in advance for all opinions and advice

Timing myself during CC?

BR is still slightly confusing in the sense that I'm not sure if the first time around (when I'm doing question sets) if I'm supposed to be timing myself. Or am I supposed to take as much time as I can since I'm still in the CC stage? I'm currently doing my Question sets timed and then doing BR after.

Is it less than beneficial to time yourself so early when you're just learning concepts? I don't quite know how to approach this?

Why so confusing?? ?

Podcast Suggestions for this Journey?

Hi guys!

I've been super into podcasts as of late and I thought it'd be great to add something LSAT related to my arsenal. This could encompass explicitly LSAT/Law School related podcasts and anything else along the lines of: mediation, psychology, philosophy etc. I'm up for any suggestion really!

Side note: Feel free to include fun stuff too! Balance is key!

I'm interested in joining also. Can someone indicate whether or not this group is closed?

I did see a post on distinguishing these argument forms a little while ago, but my question is when are these applicable? I only imagine that these are helpful with SA, PSA, F/DW, type questions, though I imagine it could be useful in all question types. Are there any other sections of the LSAT where this lesson will be needed? How often/where do you find yourself coming back to these forms while studying or PTing?

PSA!! Normally principle questions focus on subjects related to human morality/behavior. SA question stems always involve something about strengthening the conclusion, while NA never uses the word conclusion because you are to justify the argument as a whole.

I've learned this the hard way but just because a question stem has the word principle in it doesn't mean it's a principle question stem.

Also @ points out the best indicator for this which is the use of the word most that helps me out a ton when distinguishing PSA vs. SA, P
