No. A majority of T14 schools don’t even start conducting interviews or making decisions until November

What do you do when you score lower than your first take?

I was consistently PTing in the low-mid 160s and BRing in the upper 160s. I just got my score back and it was 9 points lower than my most recent PT and two points lower than my August score. I am so discouraged and disappointed in myself. I know this test isn’t an intelligence test, but it sure feels like it. Going on over a year of studying and making gains right before this test, I was feeling so confident. I’m just at a loss for words and don’t know where to go from here. Sad.

Last minute tips on LR?

Hi everyone! I will be taking the October test as my second attempt, and while I know things are pretty set in stone at this point, I was wondering if there were any last minute quick strategies people had to share? My LR has been hovering around the -6/-8 range for tests in the 80s and I would love to get that down to -5!

Your entire application will be viewable by the admissions committee, therefore they'll see the LSAC GPA and you do not need to put either on your resume. What you said right there is the perfect addendum, honest, straight to the point, and no excuses. That's exactly what they want to hear!

Nah, as long as it looks put together it should be fine. These have a free resume template on 7sage!

I feel like the LSAT medians might dip down a little back to typical range because of how many people took it this past year but I'm really not sure. Also I was wondering where you saw the new LSAT medians?

you're right. they're expecting medians to drop back towards normal range, whether it's a lot or a little, who knows. The updated medians are on the 7sage top law schools page!

I love your motivation! PLEASE slow down though. I’ve been studying since May and I only take one PT a week. My diagnostic was 142 and I just scored a 162 a few days ago. You need to slow down with the PTs…think of it this way: if you take PTs over and over again without blind reviewing, drilling, and practicing your weaknesses, then you’re just taking the same test, doing the same thing, and expecting a different result. If i’m correct, i’m pretty sure that’s the definition of insanity. You have awesome motivation and can definitely make a lot of progress, but everyone has to study more than 2 months and you don’t want to burn through a ton of material!

Called LSAC about this question; they assign you your specific date 14 days in advance.

Hi! I'm not sure why they told you this, because this is directly pulled from their website:

The LSAT is a remotely proctored exam. Before you can test, you’ll need to schedule a testing time with ProctorU. On the day scheduling sign-up opens, you’ll receive an email from LSACinfo@awyatt89575.org with more details about how to schedule your exam. (If you do not already have an account with ProctorU, this email will include credentials that you can use to set up your account.)

Test takers who prefer to test at a certain time of day, or who need a specific start time due to other obligations, should schedule their exam time as early as possible after scheduling sign-up opens, as slots are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.

Please note that scheduling will close at 11:59 p.m. ET, two days before testing begins. If you’re unable to schedule your test by this deadline, you can opt to request a test date change (fees may apply) through your LSAC account. Otherwise, your test registration will be automatically withdrawn (without a refund).

If you need assistance scheduling your exam time, please contact ProctorU by phone at 855.772.8678 or through the Live Chat feature available in your ProctorU account. Make sure you clarify your time zone.

Hi! A question (I hope not dumb). Where can I find individual schools' "optional" essays? I want to start drafting these before starting the applications.... but it seems like the only way to see them is to actually start the specific school application? Is there another way? Is it just verbatim what is on this pagehttps://classic.7sage.com/admissions/lesson/application-requirements-for-top-schools/

Thank you!

Go to the individual school's website you want to get information on and their application materials section.

Definitely keep. You're right, as there's no harm in showing your improvement by keeping the score. Additionally, you basically just wrote your addendum above, so if you were to do better, you'll have to write a quick 5 minute statement as to why. There's literally zero downside to keeping a score 150+

Honestly, unless you're somewhere in the 30s or 40s and it wasn't anywhere near your PT average, I really don't see the point in canceling a score. 150+ gets you IN a law school, even if it isn't the best, so why trash the score? I always thought keeping a lower score may play to your advantage. Best case scenario, you improve immensely from that test and it shows growth and perseverance. Sure, you may have to write an addendum explaining the jump, but three sentences explaining test anxiety and a new motivation to study harder takes barely 5 minutes. Worst case scenario, you bomb the next test, but you STILL have something to fall back on. You also could go to a school that isn't the best, work your ass off, then transfer. This is just my opinion, but don't cancel unless it can't get you into an accredited school.

where is this information available on LSAC page? https://www.lsac.org/lsat/lsat-dates-deadlines-score-release-dates doesn't say anything.

how does one find out which tests are disclosed and which undisclosed?

Every test since COVID has been undisclosed. There is a note about this under "LSAT Documents" on the same page where you see your score.

One trend of advice I see a lot is that setting a timeline for yourself with a X score is unproductive which is kind of counterintuitive. For some, this test can be a sprint, but for many, it really is a marathon. If you have a X score in mind and you have all the right reasons to strive for that score, just keep grinding until you hit that in a real test and abandon all time pressure.

Thank you! I’m not sure it’s completely about the timeline, because if I can’t get what I want by October i’ll just test again in November, but mostly worried about how all of my schools have medians in the 160s. You are right though, the time pressure thing contributes to a lot of stress!

This is great! I wouldn’t say a 156 is dismal though. Some people may have scored that today and are extremely proud of their score. Everyone’s different, but congrats on the major increase!!

I’m not sure if you’ve been reading the thread for the August 2021 test, but it’s determined the RC section that counted was the one with a passage on Nigerian languages. People knew this by some having two LR sections or two LG sections and therefore had the RC section that counted. People had them in different order (I had that particular section second) so it’ll just be based on what you were given. Hope this helps!

was that the first RC or second RC section?

People had them in a different order, so not sure for you. It was second for me.

I would definitely slow down. Personally, I only take a max of one PT a week. I BR the PT, then I deep review it. I drill my weakness, sometimes have a tutoring session, and have to leave time for my day off. If you take three PTs a week without taking time to address some weaknesses and expecting a score change, it may not be the best way to go about things (something about that saying where you do something over and over again and expect a different result). You sound like you’re in a really great place average score wise, but I would definitely slow down to avoid burnout (which we’re seeing here) and nonproductive studying. plus, LG is the easiest to make large gains on, but you must do it in drilling, not PTs. try one-two sections of LG per day and BRing them. that’s how I eventually got from -8 to -1/-0! good luck!

@ricottacheese613 I had 2 RC but none of those LR sound familiar to me. There seem to be a few different LR floating around.

ok i’m glad someone else feels the same way because I’ve been VERY concerned I didn’t recognize any of those LR questions lol. the only one mentioned that I remember seeing is the one on speed limits.

For all of y'all with 2 RC, can you help us figure out which LR was experimental?

One of my sections had topics of speed limits/mugs as incentives not to speed, and another topic was robots replacing essential workers/tax implciations. Was this section experimental?

sooo I took it at 9 this morning and my brain is mush, but I had two RCs. I’m 99% sure the experimental section is the one with robots replacing essential workers. Also, I don’t remember seeing anything about a mug. Are you saying a mug was an incentive not to speed?

I had RC - LR- LR- LG.

the RC passages were Nigerian stuff, Ansel adams, Sentence reduction and the universe about nothing. the acknowledgements were mostly to the economist.

Wait…so if you only had one reading comp section, then this was the one that counted right??

I don't know the answer to this question but I have a similar issue. I get text and news notifications on my mac that I want to turn off for the test but I am not sure how.

You can just put it on do not disturb
