#help

I chose E because I thought it was supporting the sub-conclusion shown in the answer choice. Will the LSAT ever describe a sub-conclusion as a conclusion?

In my mind it wouldn't have been such a tough question if it wasn't for the double negative in A. I'm not sure why but it took me sooooo long to parse it out.

Could someone point me in the direction of a question where the correct answer parallels (A) (confuses the necessary condition for with the sufficient condition for _)?

I submitted my complaint on the 17th at 1:30, received the retest email by the 18th at 12:30, less than 24 hours. I was also told the 20th was the deadline to let me know. Based on what I’ve read the 26th test will be completely different than any sections from the other days since they know people talk and people have put out their predictions about which sections are experimental. I took 2 sections before my issues with Proctor U. I can’t see any scenario where I will get the same sections or the ones people have been discussing all over.

I notified them and they told me I could not retake the test because I was already exposed to the exam.

That is completely unfair. I'm so sorry!

External Monitor For CLOSED Laptop

I have been taking practice tests for months on an external monitor with my small laptop completely closed. I was told by my proctor that I could not use an external monitor if I was using a laptop no matter if it was closed or not. I called up LSAC while in chat with the proctor and was told the same thing. This killed me, I was super calm before the test but rearranging my workspace and how I interacted with the test was brutal.

I based my assumption that I could use ONE monitor based on https://support.proctoru.com/hc/en-us/articles/360035300212-Multiple-Monitors-Displays page, which is linked from LSAC's website. It says:

"Multiple monitors/displays are not supported. If you have more than one monitor, you will need to disconnect all but one."

Has anyone else run into this problem? Is my interpretation of what I read incorrect? Was anyone else able to use an external monitor for their closed laptops?

Here is an example of ProctorU saying it is allowed! https://www.reddit.com/r/LSAT/comments/j0cvmu/lsatflex_laptop_and_external_monitor/g6yhvex/

Do you think I have standing to complain to LSAC?

Edit: I forgot to mention that I did a equipment check with ProctorU on Friday and was told everything was fine.

Length of the Application Process

I was hoping to get a sense of how long I can expect it to take to complete the application process. I understand that this is completely subjective and based on each person, but I am trying to figure out how realistic it will be for me to apply this cycle.

I was planning to take the September LSAT but I am not currently scoring as high as I would like. At this point I can expect between a160-165, the numbers indicate I will be on the lower side. I had a 3.82 undergrad GPA and I would rather not squander that with a mediocre LSAT. I have spent today contemplating if I should postpone until December, but this made me realize that if I did I would not have much time to actually complete the applications once I get my score. I understand there are some portions I might be able to complete before I take the test, but in effect that will take away time from actually prepping. I was really hoping to not need to wait another year before law school, but I am now thinking it is something I might have to consider.

Edit - One other question, will a school look consider the fact that someone already applied and got rejected during a previous cycle?

Guesstimate for Test Day: "Week of August 14th"

About two years ago I agreed to be a groomsmen at my friends wedding. I just learned it was rescheduled for Saturday, August 14th...

Does anyone have any estimates on what day/days the LSAT will be administered based on past test dates. I know this is the first non-flex after the start of the pandemic, does that mean there will be only one test day?

Any educated guesses would be extremely helpful as I try to plan ahead.

You don't really elaborate on your method for LG's. My avg for LG is -1.6. It is by far my best section. I would suggest that you learn the types of logic games, so you know which game boards to use. Visually writing out the game boards is the easiest way to answer all of the questions. Visually showing your inferences makes the games easier. You should try and do a wide range of LG questions rather than the same ones over and over. If you mess up on a specific question type watch the explanations of them. You want to get to a point where you spend a majority of your time making all the game boards and the questions take almost no time. Meaning before you even look at the questions you should have all the possible game boards figured out with all inferences. This is something that naturally I was good at, whereas the other sections were harder for me. That would be my best advice, hope that helped remotely.

Thank you, it does. I think your suggestion of spending more time on the game boards and less on the questions is a good one. Sometimes instead of splitting my game boards I think I have my rules and inferences down enough for the questions, then I get to a question where I have no idea where to start and I panic.

Edit: Your edit was an awesome addition and should really help me moving forward. I have found myself looking back at past boards I have created for other questions and I forget if they are wrong (as in I was testing an answer and it turned out to be incorrect) or if they worked out. I will be using check marks for now on. Thanks again!

Last Minute Logic Games Improvement

I am taking the August LSAT and was hoping to get some tips for last minute improvement on LGs, my worst section by far. I know this is something that should have been shored months ago but I can only look forward. Yesterday I took PT 83 and did very well besides LG, where I got ¡-15! Suffice to say, I had a bit a major freakout yesterday but now I am ready to get to work.

My current range on PT's is 161 to 166, I really hoped to be in the high 160's - low 170's but my biggest obstacle are the games. My avg's are (LR -4, RC -5.5, LG -8.2). Unfortunately my scores are a bit skewed because the LR no longer counts as 2/4 of the LSAT grade.

My current plan is to take one more PT at some point this week but for the rest of the week just drill logic games. I know it is the easiest section to improve, and I hope to get it close to -2 by the October test, but for now what would your suggestions be for quick improvement. Should I take the same tests over and over again until I get the assumptions down perfectly? Or take a wide range of LG sets so that while question types are similar, the actual details are different and I need to improvise my assumptions? Are there any specific LG types that might be the easiest to perfect and maybe I should focus on those?

Any, and I mean any, suggestions are appreciated as I try to bump my score up.

I also chose E on blind review (got it right when taking the test). When I first saw I was wrong and reread it I didn't understand but it clicked when JY said something along the lines of:

There is no support for "only warm blooded animals could survive such temperatures." We just take it on faith, like all premises.

Initially I thought that the fact that they lived in those places was support for the statement above but how does them living there prove that only warm blooded animals could survive such temperatures? It doesn't!

Hope this helps!

I'd give them a call. It's a lot easier to be not be helpful through an impersonal medium like email. If you get on the phone with the right person who wants to help it might make all the difference.

When to Take the Written Section?

I am taking the August LSAT, which is my first, and am hoping to get my score ASAP so I know both if I need to take it again in October and if I should cancel my score. I know there is a warning that you cannot get your grade until after your written section has been accepted. A few questions regarding the process:

1) How long does it usually take for a written section to be confirmed?

2) If I took the written section a few days after the test would my score be delayed?

3) If my score is delayed, will I still be able to cancel that score using my one time option as a new test taker?

At the moment I am laser focused on trying to get the best possible score and I don't want to lose that by shifting focus to the written section. I am hoping to get some opinions on whether that is the right strategy or if I should bite the bullet and do the written section before the rest of the test.

Confirm action

Are you sure?
