4th Take vs T14 Goal As Is

Hello everyone,

Kind of in a tight spot. Have taken the LSAT three times thus far. Based on my most recent score I would still qualify as a reverse splitter for T14 schools. I’m trying to weigh my options of applying among the T14 this cycle vs a 4th take in July and how that might look. I underperformed my PT range by about 5 points on the June 2018 exam. Above 75th GPA wise but sitting around 25th for LSAT.

I have read various posts about the upper limit for the number of takes but I am still searching for some advice.

Not sure if most simply would simply base their position off plugging the numbers in LSN and judging off there, but I am somewhat concerned about how a fourth take would look.

Any advice is appreciated,

Thank you all

Still looking if by chance someone happens to be in a similar situation.

Thank you all for your feedback. I understand it may not be necessary but wanted to be thorough and write one briefly. It’s only a few sentences and was wondering if it’s permissable for me to post or pm it to someone who could say if it’s sufficent/correct.

I simply describe the circumstances and say these were the reasons for the cancelations.

Four Takes, Two are Cancelations. Addendum?

So I came across a previous posting on 7sage regarding topics and circumstances that are appropriate for an addendum:

https://classic.7sage.com/admissions/lesson/when-to-write-a-non-required-addendum/

However I wanted to seek out clarifying advice for my situation as it refers to a cancelation and not cancelations.

I took the LSAT four times, the first receiving a score, second was a cancelation, the third was a four point improvement from my first score, and my fourth take will be my second cancelation.

The two cancelations we’re under the circumstances of finding out about my parents getting divorced shortly before, and the second cancelation will be due to my aunt’s death two weeks ago which I know with certainty affected my performance to the extent that my score will not be an improvement.

I am not leaning towards a fifth take as I’m sure it wouldn’t look good and there is no guarantee for an improvement. But should I even bother writing an addendum for two cancelations regarding the circumstances?

Thank you all for any help/advice.

Hello, was still trying to find someone to exchange or review with, if possible. Hope everyone is well.

I don't believe at least for the schools I've marked for my cycle that specific prompts are available.

They usually do include specific prompts as other options, but a "Why X?" essay is often one of them, or not even directly requested by certain schools, but still welcome to demonstrate your interest and why the school would be a good fit.

Hello all,

I was looking for another person to review with/give advice on "Why X School?" statements. At this time I have written two "Why X School?" essays as I've heard that they can be a beneficial component for certain schools.

I tended to emphasize aspects such as regional ties, collegial environment, and programs/student organizations which support my broader career goal. I then showed how these aspects complimented my career goal and would make the school a good fit.

Does this seem to fall in line with what a "Why X?" essay could reasonably include? Would love to get some feedback on what I wrote here or by reviewing essays with another.

Thanks all,

Hope everyone is doing well.

I appreciate your suggestions greatly. And that perhaps leads to a clarification I should have made. Within the same section of the application it separates the extracurricular/extra-professional section from the hobbies/interests section into different boxes to type in. In essence, it kind of prevents me from picking from the various activities listed as a whole, so in turn, I would just end up with one of the sections being empty.

And thank you, I will definitely consider a diversity statement.

Non traditional, 2 years out of undergrad, have been employed since graduating. Have applied in past cycles, although I am set on going this upcoming cycle. (Was simply trying to bump my LSAT up, so I was sitting the exam in June/and this July).

Although if it matters, I have not applied to this specific law school previously, so I'm not trying to counteract a previous wait list/rejection from this law school if that matters at all for analysis. Furthermore, I'm a reverse splitter.

"If that was at all unclear to you, then you may need to go back and review your foundational lessons in conditional logic."

Hello all,

I had a brief question regarding the activities and interests section of a particular application (applying for the upcoming cycle). I'm not sure there's a definitive good answer.

It's a mandatory question that specifically asks for extracurricular/extra professional activities, and for a few specific reasons (would be happy to discuss) I was not able to venture into that area, although I know that's not an adequate excuse. Part of it was during undergrad I commuted to the university which totaled about 4 hours both ways every day to reduce the debt that would have been accumulated by living near my school, so I felt unable to take advantage of various extracurricular opportunities. Another aspect was familial issues among others in my family which I dedicated most of my free time to resolving, although I'm happy to say that has now been resolved.

Given that the section is mandatory, would it be appropriate to write an addendum to explain why this area of my application is lacking? I would and intend to engage in such activities in the future, but as far as the application for this school in the upcoming cycle is concerned, I know it's too late.

I have written a "Why X" for this school in an attempt to bolster my application, but I'm just unsure if not being able to fill in this mandatory "extracurricular/extra professional" section would effectively kill my application for such a competitive school.

Thanks for any assistance/advice,

Everyone in this community has been great.

Thank you for your response, I appreciate it greatly. I was indeed referring to my personal statement. And yes, the experience is by no means easy, but it makes it all the more gratifying and worth it.

Good evening everyone,

Been a lurker/silent member of 7sage for quite sometime as I had been fortunate enough to come across the logic games explanation videos early in my studies, and I could not adequately put into words how helpful they were during my studies which are still ongoing. Have taken the LSAT a few times, and sat for the June exam as well with the clear goal of raising my previous score. Have applied the past two cycles, but am set on the upcoming cycle being the one where I intend to finally begin the law school journey.

Have tried to continuously change and improve my personal statement over time, but have always found a second set of eyes is most beneficial, and was hoping I could exchange and review my personal statement with another individual with the same expectation.

Regardless, thank you all for the shared commitment and motivation you have provided. The journey isn't easy, but knowing there are others on the same path makes it all the more comforting.

Good afternoon everyone,

To bolster a few of my applications and mention factors relevant to why I am interested in attending particular schools, I decided to write a couple “Why X School?” essays and was hoping to possibly review/give advice with another individual.

Generally, they focus on topics such as academic reputation, environment and values of the school, programs of particular interest, and how those schools would fit with/aid my future goals and interests.

Hope everyone has been well,

Thanks all
