Present or Past Tense/Diversity Statement

Hello! I'm working on my applications, and have a couple of questions I'd like answered.

I received some advice regarding my personal statement from an admissions officer at a lower ranked law school. He suggested writing in the present tense, even though the story I'm telling occurred in the past. However, everything I'm reading online says to keep the past in the past. Whose advice should I follow?

I was adopted at birth, and homeschooled from 1st-8th grade. Does this warrant a diversity statement?

Thanks for any advice/suggestions!

Yes, I was able to visit both before everything went crazy. I loved being in New York City; I just don’t know if I’m willing to give up a full ride, especially now.

I got the e-mail; I'm near their medians though, so I'm not sure if it's a mass e-mail or not.

I still have not received my score. anyone else??

Did you ever receive your score? I still don’t have mine...not gonna lie I’m kinda mad.

Check your LSAT Registration status. Mine wasn't emailed to me until around 10 am but I had checked the website at 9 am.

Thanks! I've actually been checking the LSAC site ever since this morning...my icons are still grey. Figure I'll call if I don't have it by tomorrow.

New LSAT Test-taking limit policy

Anyone else just get this email from LSAC? Thoughts?

(I just copied the most relevant part)

“In effect starting with the September 2019 test administration, test takers would be permitted to take the LSAT:

Three times in a single testing year (the testing year goes from June 1 to May 31).

Five times within the current and five past testing years (the period in which LSAC reports scores to law schools).

A total of seven times over a lifetime.

This policy is forward-looking, not retroactive. Tests taken prior to September 2019 will not count against these numerical limits. “

Does anyone else still not have their score? Waiting is torture....

Brigham Young University test center location

So I just registered for the September 2019 LSAT on BYU's campus. I'm trying to find out where on campus the test is actually administered, but I can't find anything. Is that something that I won't be able to find out until I can print my admission ticket? Any information is appreciated! Thanks!

I'm not entirely sure. I'm intrigued by the idea of BigLaw, but not 100% committed; I'm pretty positive I want to try for a clerkship though.

As for negotiating -- I just sent in the scholarship app for Cornell, and I'm hoping I can use whatever they give me to negotiate with Columbia (thoughts on if that will work given that Cornell is bottom T14 and Columbia's #5?)....Vanderbilt gave me a pretty decent scholarship too but I don't know if I can use it to negotiate, and I'm not really considering going there...

Columbia vs Full Ride at BYU

First - thank you 7sage! I ended up getting a 172 on the LSAT, and I know it wouldn't have been possible without the amazing materials on the site. I've been blessed to get into Columbia, BYU, Cornell and Vanderbilt. I'm really torn between Columbia, (because I love NYC and all of the programs at Columbia) and BYU, where I have a full tuition scholarship + $2500 stipend. I've visited both (I did undergrad at BYU actually), and enjoyed both...I just can't decide if I should go for the prestige, or the debt free degree. Advice?
