Lower than PT score on test day - advice?

Hi all,

I know this is a common phenomenon, that many score lower than their PT average on test day. I was wondering if anyone could provide advice my specific situation since I'm a bit demotivated.

I'm someone who didn't really need to study for RC or LR due to my background as a philosophy student, and usually manage -0 to -3 on those. I do struggle on LG, often having to guess the last few questions. Another thing is that I have only taken 3-section preptests. Last time I stopped PTing (171) one week before the real test (166).

I haven't studied since taking September, but I'm registered for October, my last chance. How should I proceed in the last 17 days until Oct? Just drill logic games, or try the 4-section tests on LSAC? How would you all approach this? I feel like I need to switch something up to avoid this happening again.

As a philosophy student, LR and RC are my best sections and I usually do finish them early with -0 to -2. I usually have around five minutes or more left on LR, but RC is definitely more crunched and I'll have a few minutes left, only enough to review a couple questions. I don't skip any questions or save some for later, but I'll definitely flag some that deserve a second look.

However, everyone is different and I am sure there are plenty of good RC scorers who find themselves fighting for time. I just happen to have a very fast reading speed and a background in tackling hard texts because of my major.

If you are prone to test anxiety or panic, drinking caffeine may not be the best idea. I personally got green tea for the LSAT because supposedly it both calms and energizes you. Worked well for me.
