Prep Test as a group in Los Angeles

Hello fellow 7sagers!

I would like to organize a group prep test. Basically, get together in a quite area and take the test as a group to simulate testing conditions.

If anybody is interested let me know ASAP so I can begin looking for a good place.

Thanks!

What do you do after a day of studying?

As those of us who have been studying for the LSAT for 6 months + know, the lsat does not allow you to make commitments to other things that take up your time, such as full time job, bodybuilding, Grand Theft Auto 5 etc, . After studying 5 hours a day for the whole week, feeling like I need to take a mental break this friday night. However, I know that partying till the AM hours is not a good idea when prepping for such an exam. How are most of you getting your mental breaks?

Weaken Question Cheat Sheet

After finishing both lessons on Weaken Question I finished feeling overwhelmed by the amount of strategies to attack a Weaken question. We have three (1) Causation (2) Assumption (3) Problem and hypothesis.

I feel like I still don't have a strong grasp of the strategies. Does anyone has a cheat sheet or anything similar that shows a Big Picture ? If not if anyone is interested I will probably be making one tonight.

Need help with LR and LG

Recent LSAT score is 154. Breakdown is LG 12, LR 15, LR 15, RC 20.

I am struggling with LG and LR a bit. My goal is to hit 160 by december. Can anyone help me out? I am 75% done with the 7sage course. How should I plan the remainder of my studies? Should I start taking two prep test per week?

Increased my LR using this strategy today.

Hello fellow LSAT warriors!

I began to notice that I got really good at LR but my confidence was not reflecting during timed conditions. Today I took two LR sections from PT 47 using two different strategies. The first, I took my time with each question until I was very sure, rarely skipping! I only got 14 our of 26 correct!!!! I attempted 19 Questions.

In the second LR I tried to be very fast. I read the stimulus, and once I saw what I thought was the right answer I quickly moved on(this was very hard for me because there is always that voice in the back saying what if you mis read, this feels to easy). Second, If a question seemed to convoluted or complex, I skipped, even if it was a question in the first 10 Q. In this section I got 19 out of 26!!! I attempted 20 questions. I got lucky once!

In summary I think moving fast, in the sense that you quickly pick you answer, and if you hesitate ask your self if this is a question that you can understand in the next minute, if not pick you best answer and move, if yes, re read the stimulus briefly and make the best choice!

What do you all think? I think my mistake was doubting my self and that was causing valuable time spent in a questing that I was still going to get wrong!

For me D was wrong because it makes a statement about "any" student were the conclusion of the argument make a statement about "over all". Thus we do not need it to be be true that "any" student would not improve.

Studying LG for two days in a row

I have noticed that the reason why I cannot increase from mid 150's to 160's is that I suck at gouging games! Do you think that if I do nothing but grouping games for an entire week my LR and RC score might drop?

I think it is useful not for you to tell time during an exam, as it does not have enormous advantages than a regular watch, but rather it is useful to keep you interested with new things, new ideas, new strategies. This test can get boring after several months of studying, and if a new watch picks up your energy, then why not.

First, understand that you are not trying to "attack" necessary assumptions. Rather we are trying to find an answer that if true would allow the argument to continue "living". Without that answer choice being true, our premises are no longer enough to make our conclusion true. Example: I am the smart because I read the economist. Premise: I read the economist. Conclusion: I am smart. If I wish for my argument to continue "living" I has to be true that only smart people read that economist. If I say not only smart people read the economist, your argument could potentially die because now(under the assumption we just made) there could be dumb people who read the economist too. Get it?

Lewis, for reading comprehension retaking would not be a good use of your time. First, you already understand the structure of the passage and that would probably make you take the section with an added benefit that you will not have in the real LSAT. We retake logic games over and over in order to imbed inferences into our brains, so than when we see a similar games we area able to identify possible scenarios and quickly identify them and move on.

Main Point Questions

There are some main point questions that do not have a clear conclusion. The conclusion uses "borrowed language" or "referential language". Example : Clearly, without that sympathy and the political will in engender, the needs of more obscure species will go unmet. If you see "that" referrers back to the last contextual language. In the answer, there is not such answer that states that specific conclusion, rather a inference that one can make, is the answer. How do we use the 7sage strategy in such a situation?

Logic games problem

Do any of you sometimes hesitate to go to the next problem when you have the same letter answer twice in a row? I sometimes loose a couple of seconds because I feel unsure when I see for example two A's in a row. Any advice? I sometimes waste time by going back and quickly looking over B,C,D and E, when I know A is the answer. How can I work on my confidence for games?

Main Point Question (implied conclusion)

I have noticed that in main point questions the conclusion is not clearly present sometimes, and when this happens, it is very important that one uses the premises and context to anticipate a conclusion. Examples of this(referential phrasing) occurs in PT28, LR2 Section 3 and PT 30, LR 1, Section 2. Does anyone have any thoughts?

Help, need to gain back motivation.

Hello,

I have been studying off and on for the last year or so. From my initial diagnostic of 139 I scored a 155 on the december lsat. I began studying again after taking a three month break. Initial diagnostic this time is at 152. My goal is to get to a 160. However, recently, my energy levels and focus has begun to drop! I need help getting pumped up and maintaining my M-S 9-12 and 2:4 schedule. I cannot afford not to get a 160 or more. I quit my job to study all day!

I have noticed in passages where the author expresses a strong opinion and even a conclusion, the MP answer must include the authors conclusion. Is this right?

Definitively start reading the economist ASAP. I read about 2 articles a day, everyday! It has helped me a lot. Make sure you understand what you are reading. Make note of authors VP and things like reffential phrasing.

In need of dedicated study buddy (Los Angeles)

I am looking for a very dedicated study buddy. I am taking the June LSAT, and I am going to work very hard to reach a 160+ score. I currently have a 155 in the December LSAT. I will be using a combination of materials, 7sages and LSAT Trainer mostly. If you are not extremely serious about this exam, please do not respond. I will be making the lsat my full time job. If you are interested in meeting once a week to review and share notes and go over wrong questions please respond. Thank you.

What the hell just happened?

I have been drilling games for months now, using the fool proof method. My score was beginning to increase (last pretest I got 14 correct in the games section) I just took pretest 61 and absolutely did horrible in the section. I froze, was unable to see inferences, and only got 9 questions right! Also, my RC score, usually 19, dropped to 14. The RC section seamed harder than usual. My LR sections greatly increased ( think this is because I took this test 6 months ago. Overall I got 155 with an aim of getting 160 this june! I need to improve my LG, I think thats the way to secure the 160. Any tips? Should I drill full sections? I think my weakness is when I do sections not individual games. Please help. I need to develop a study strategy for this last month that does not kill my mood. I usually tend to freak out and drill like crazy and end up burning out. I am so close to the 160...Is RC harder for the recent lsat's?

This has been my section distribution:

PT 55 PT 56 PT 61

RC 19 , 19, 16

LR 20,16, 22

LR 15, 15, 19

LG 9, 13, 9

152, 153, 155

PT69.S4.Q08 - to qualify as a medical specialist

http://classic.7sage.com/lsat_explanations/lsat-69-section-4-question-08/

I picked D, which is wrong, and I kind of knew it would. I could not pick C because the it did not translate to what I needed.

Incompetent----> Does not complete

CP Completes ------> Not incompetent.

But the problem for me here was that not incompetent does not( according to our negation lessons) equal competent right?

RC score drop!

I just took PT68, I usually get 17-20 q correct on Reading comp, however, my RC score fell to 10 correct!

The reading comprehension passage felt very tricky, I could not even get one MP question right! Any advice how to get back on track with exams in the late 60's

Sufficient Assumption

I just finished the Sufficient Assumption packet and I felt very lost and without control of the strategy. I did great on the video lessons, but this was just not good. I took me 25 minutes to finish 10 Questions. Manly because two questions drained 5 minutes! I got 6/10. That was terrible. Can you please provide some advice! I want to know this type of questions to perfection!

Are you sure?
