I get why the first part of E is right (which is why I almost picked it) but I am still struggling with the "pleased" aspect. Where is that?

Apparently "as_ happens, _ happens" is causal language. I overthought this one and assumed the first sentence was a correlative trap. The LSAT clearly has me paranoid of everything I read.
