Have you taken any practice tests now after the CC to see if your score changes? I feel like I took a practice test, saw my weak areas, drilled those, and THEN I actually saw my score increase. My BR increased ALOT too!

Pt 37 Easy?

Is PT 37 a fairly easy test overall? I scored a 165, even though usually I score in the 150s. I want to know if I’m on the right track, or just got lucky on this test. Thanks! Let me know what you guys think

Last Minute Game Proofs?

I am scoring in the 150-155 range and really want to improve. Sometimes, I do great on the games and get 20 correct. Other times, I get only 13 correct. I don't have a lot of time to fool proof by September test, but which ones should be my MAIN priority to fool proof for now? What would help the most? Thank you!

Looking for a study partner

I am looking for a study partner to discuss some areas that we need help on. For me, I am struggling with assumptions SA, NA, PSA. I would love if anyone is able to help me on this area!

I see! I was doing that before too, but I got a bit anxious because the test is in September. So, I started taking the tests to see my weaknesses. Also, I noticed you have a premium account and I am thinking about upgrading to that. What do you think? Has it been worth it? I am really tempted by the Drilling LR by types

Should I be aiming to go to the highest law school in hopes of making more money in my career? Will my chances be better for big law because the law school ranking is higher? Are there even lawyers making 6 figures anymore if they just go to lower ranked schools such as IU Bloomington or Hastings? If so, how? Can you realistically make 6 figures by going into lower schools?

Hi,

I'm not sure if I did this correctly, but I have been fool proofing as I go along. I also fool proof after the PT as well. I think try to continue through the CC, but fool proof along your way. Have you taken any PT yet? If so, what are your scores? That may help you realize what areas you should focus more on.

Should I still apply? Top 14

First off, I appreciate any advise and help that you guys are able to provide. I am very stressed at this point because my main goal was to get into the Top 14 law schools. I just graduated with Bachelors this May at the age of 19 with a 3.66 GPA in Criminal Justice and Psychology. I am worried that my GPA isn't good enough for law school, but hopefully with a great LSAT score and a unique personal statement sharing my experiences and graduating so early, I might be able to still get in. Only problem is, I am still scoring around 152-155. I am especially struggling with SA and NA for logical reasoning. I did do some games, but I never got time to foolproof every single game, so I am worried. I have just done the games in the CC and the games on PT as well. I feel like there are people who have foolproofed over 100 games for so long! I am no where close to that. My first test score before the CC was 144. Then, on the other two tests I took after that, I got 150-155. I feel like I should be aiming for the 170, but can I even get that by September? Is that too unrealistic? I am worried about taking the test in November and applying later on because of my GPA. I really want to go to the Top 14 though, so I don't know if I should just sit this cycle out, practice until June 2019, then go to Law School 2020. I just don't want it that I wait out another year and end up looking bad on applications that "hey what did you even do for two years after graduation?" Plus, I don't know if I should just go to a lower ranking school, but I don't want to. I was really set on the Top 14 and I am looking for any advice. I know that some schools including Columbia, Washington-St Louis, GeorgeTown, and others are accepting the GRE. Should I just take the GRE instead of LSAT and see what happens? I am just so overwhelmed right now.

Hi Sami! I just started looking into the PowerScore. I am still on chapter 4. I am just worried that I haven't really practiced alot of games yet. I finished 7sage CC, then took 2 PT so far, and feel like everyone is practicing so many games, but I just do the games in the PT and repeat if I get them wrong. What do you recommend?

I honestly think the Powerscore methodology for Logic games especially is extremely bad. That was the first book I bought too. I still have it and I am torn between throwing it away or giving it to someone. But I can't in any good conscience give it someone :joy: . Maybe I can write a note and say please don't use it - use 7sage.com. :joy: :joy:

But at this point with September being so close if you have used only Powerscore to study its too late to make any major changes in methodology and you should continue to use it.

What you could do is drill the common and "easier" game types like sequencing, in and out, and grouping by using 7sage videos. Print the drill out by game type. When you are done with each game, watch the video and try to get it under time and all the questions correct. Keep repeating the same game until you get it correct. Then do the next game from the same game type. At least this way you would have strengthened some of the most common game types you may encounter for September take.

Drill Games or PT?

I am wondering whether I should be drilling games by using the Powerscore logic games bible because I did buy it before, or whether I should just continue taking PTs? If I get games wrong, then I can see what I got wrong and try to watch the videos on it? What's the best idea because I am taking the test in September?

Low priority vs high priority

I feel like I keep getting all of the low priority questions correct, some high priority, and missing all of high priority. I am not sure if I need to just be exposed more to the questions because this is just my second PT after CC. I looked over the CC in between first PT and now this second PT, but I am still missing high priority questions. What are your guys' suggestions? Should I maybe upgrade my 7sage account to get more high priority question examples? I am not sure what I am doing wrong because when I review the lessons and do the practice problems, I get them all correct. On the test, however, I am not scoring better.

Difficulty of tests

Is there any way to know how difficult the certain practice tests are? I am just starting to take the tests because I finished the CC. I wanted to know if some are "easier" than others. Thank you!

Struggling with SA

I am struggling with Sufficient Assumptions and PSA as well. Even when I went through the lesson, I feel like it just doesn't click. I have watched the videos numerous times and it just doesn't work. The SA are the ones I am missing on the practice tests as well. What suggestions do you guys have? Any tips? Study guides? I appreciate all advice!

Missed September Deadline

This is so stupid that I did this, but I forgot to register for the September exam. The deadline was yesterday. Do you think I could call someone? What are my options? What could I possibly do? I am so stressed right now

I am in a similar situation as you! I am only 19 and applying to law school. From what I have been told by most people is to actually highlight my age because that is what makes me unique. I think I will talk about activities, the motivation to do this all so early, and more! Hopefully, we can help each other out on the essays or other stuff too! Let me know.

Thank you so much for the advice! How could I do the timed rills and untimed drills? I only have the starter package, so am I missing that?

@ said:

As said above, it’s super common for people to score the same immediately after the CC. I think I only improved about 3 points up from my diagnostic, and I had spent a couple months studying with Powerscore before 7sage too. It takes a little bit of time to actually learn how to apply what you learned in the cc.

For now, put aside doing PTs for a little bit. Early on like this, you probably only need to do one every 2 or 3 weeks, to check in on your progress. Try working on some drills by question type and practicing sections untuned. Definitely watch the post-core curriculum study strategies webinar. It will give you so many great ideas on how to study. And try foolproofing games to get a better grasp on LG.

You can do this! It’s tedious and the work takes time, but I truly believe you will get there!

Thank you so much for your help! How could I do the timed rills and untimed drills? I only have the starter package, so am I missing that? I am just confused

@ said:

Is this your first PT post CC? If so, that's pretty normal for you to score near your diagnostic. It's really rare for most people to improve drastically on their first PT post CC. Also, your blind review score, will give us a better understanding of your maximum potential because it's what you're theoretically capable of timed conditions.

The whole purpose of CC is to build your fundamentals/knowledge. PTs test your application. For most people, the application is not the same level as their knowledge because they haven't tested their application. I know that I didn't do anything timed while I worked my way through the curriculum (aside from fool proofing games) so think of all the hours you put into working on your fundamentals as opposed to the hours you've put in doing all this timed.

Depending on your BR score, and its proximity to your goal score, there's a number of things you could do: revisit CC, do timed drills, do untimed drills. There's a webinar you can watch that explains this in detail:

https://classic.7sage.com/webinar/post-core-curriculum-study-strategies/

Also, I'd caution against the temptation to try new methodology so soon. I know it feels frustrating because you put in so much effort and time to complete the CC but that's only about 1/3 of the journey needed. Don't let your pride get in the way of your studies, or think that you 'deserve' a certain score (I know I did).

Just feeling stuck

I'm going to vent a little bit on here. At the start, I took the initial PrepTest June 2007 and got 144. I missed 51 questions then. Now, I took my first PT 62 from December 2010 and got 144. I missed 57 questions. I feel defeated. My logic games did go up, so I am happy about that. I just want to prepare effectively for September and I am not sure whether I should take Kaplan? So far, I just finished the CC and took the first test, so maybe I need to do the drilling too. What suggestions do you have? Thanks for the help, guys!

I was wondering where you are seeing the applications and essay prompts. Every time I log into LSAC, it seems to only show the applications for Fall 2018, but not Fall 2019. When would we see the Fall 2019 applications or how do we work ahead?

Warning- I am about to just go on a rant here so please excuse any grammar mistakes that I make..also it is very late (haha).

Honestly, I feel that I would definitely highlight the fact that you got acknowledged with two awards. Try to mention that you were fully involved in your family/ community, your volunteer stuff, professional stuff, and then mention that is why your grades were not the best at a certain time. But as time went on and you learned certain skills, organization time management etc...then you were able to improve your GPA.

Do the diversity statement. At least in my head, if you are able to try to mention something...then WHY NOT? Show how you can contribute something that others may not be able to. Make yourself UNIQUE!

I feel like use all your factors. Especially the foster care aspect and include all you have learned from it and how it will help in future...and more! Then, tie it together by mentioning that heyyyyy while doing all this...I ALSO worked professionally and did this this and that. So it just shows that hey yeah, maybe the GPA isn't all the way up there, but you were doing lots of things and learning!

Again, I am so sorry for the messy rant and I promise to write better tomorrow if we continue this conversation (haha)

@ Thank you so much for your insight! I agree that it is important to have a higher ranking in law school, which may be more difficult with the students in T14. Do you think if someone was to not go to T14, could they still realistically be making 6 figures?

@ said:

It depends on where/how you want to practice. If you want to practice in big time law and work for some 500+ lawyer law firm, then yes you might want to go balls to the wall and nail a well ranked school. If you are not interesting in doing big law within a Manhattan office or working in academia, the need to go 150k in debt for a T14 isn't there.

For the lawyers who are nailing the $50,000 mark, those are your fresh outta school local/state gov kinda people. Assistant Public defenders and assistant DA's are going to be in that range. However, if said ADA or APD went to not T14 school, got a good LSAT and got good schollys for school, a 50K a year job won't be that bad since their loans won't insurmountable.

My wife's cousin graduated Duquense Law School in Pittsburgh. Sub 100 school and tuition is higher than it should be for that school. But she got amazing scholarships, went into little to no debt, and is now assistant DA for Allegheny county. She clerked for 1-2 years post JD and is doing well.

All about where you want to be.

Also, consider this: If you go to a sub T-14 school, say Case Western which is T-65, and you finish top 25% or higher in your class, that will look mighty fine. If you go to a T-14 and finish on the lower range of your class, which might not be unrealistic considering the company that you'll be in, you might not get the same looks that you think.

@ My undergrad was criminal justice and psychology. I am looking into corporate law, but honestly open to suggestions. I had a 3.6 GPA for undergrad and am still working on the LSAT for September!

What are you looking into? What was your undergrad career/background? Sorry if you answered this, and I missed it. If so, just disregard this comment.
