Choice C specifically mentions that the volcanic dust entered the atmosphere. The "earth dust" in choice D isn't mentioned to do that, and it doesn't make a statement on how that dust would affect global temperatures, unlike in choice C. The support in choice C is that the volcanic dust entering the atmosphere acts as a sort of micro-example of the larger phenomenon of the earth passing through a cloud of cosmic dust which encapsulates the planet.
I knew D was right because Earth's temperature isn't getting lowered by some generic earth dust - you need that powerful COSMIC dust. The premise specifically hinges on COSMIC dust entering the atmosphere from space. It doesn't support the hypothesis. Furthermore, choice D doesn't explain the effect earth dust might have on global temperatures. In fact, it doesn't even state that the dust raised by cosmic rock even ENTERS the atmosphere, unlike with the volcanic dust mentioned in answer choice C, which provides a solid example of how similar bodies of dust can affect global temperatures.
The only reason I got it right (got it wrong in Blind Review though) is because B was the only choice that I thought directly strengthened one of the premises. "Premise 1" explains that anti-inflammatory drugs are effective, but answer choice B explains WHY they're effective in a manner consistent with the other premises/the conclusion.
I fell for it, unfortunately. Didn't even fall for one of the better traps - I chose A. And I chose it AGAIN in Blind Review!
