I think it all depends on application pools this year. Corona hit during the spring, which, I think, wouldn't leave enough time for those deciding to go back to school to study for the LSAT. So, the pool might not be as competitive; applicant scores might be lower overall; etc, etc.
There's no harm in applying with your July score, and if you decide to take October or November, schools you apply to will see that as well. I had a friend do this and her 2nd retake gave her much more competitive scholarships at schools she applied to previously.

I think what JY fails to mention is how E talks about “appeal” which the stimulus doesn’t cover. Answer choice E makes the underlying assumption that appeal must be related to sophistication in the Stimulus. This is what ultimately makes E wrong, and D right.
