Proctors: Super strict, fair, but fast between sections (no time to reset watch)

Facilities: Just one bathroom

What kind of room: Small, dilapidated (a little), way too close to a major street

How many in the room: 20 for our test

Desks: Tables with 2 chairs per table. Annoying texture on the tables made bubbling and essay writing a pain.

Left-handed accommodation: Sort of. They put left-handed on the left side of the table.

Noise levels: Not great but not bad. REALLY BAD for us because they were jack hammering right next to the building during our test but under "normal" conditions I think it would be okay.

Parking: None. Horrible. Have to find parking along residential streets or farther away.

Time elapsed from arrival to test: Arrived early (8:05) for 8:30 report deadline. Started probably around 9:30.

Irregularities or mishaps: JACK HAMMERING!!!!!!!!!!!, the fallout from jack hammering, and a few others that were less egregious. Yikes...

https://classic.7sage.com/discussion/#/discussion/8872/horror-story-that-one-can-only-laugh-at-the-absurdity-of

Other comments: The people who took the LSAT there were an awesome group of friendly and amazing people.

Would you take the test here again? Preferrably not but probably just due to the PTSD of our particularly wacked out administration

Date[s] of Exam[s]: Monday, Sept 26, 2016

@"Dillon A. Wright" Please delete if I say more than I am allowed.

Our test today was administered while construction crews were working on fixing the street right outside the testing room. The jack hammering started during section 2 I believe and continued uninterrupted until finally it got so bad that the proctor STOPPED OUR EXAM IN THE MIDDLE OF A SECTION!!!!!!!! But of course not until the JACK HAMMERING! was right next to the building and the entire building was shaking! Repeat, THERE WAS AN INDUSTRIAL SIZED JACK HAMMER ATTACHED TO A BOBCAT PULVERIZING THE CONCRETE ABOUT FIVE FEET AWAY FROM WHERE PEOPLE WERE TAKING THE LSAT! It was terrible before that but the entire building shaking just made it so extra absurd. We sat there for over an hour with our tests closed MID-SECTION! while the silliness continued. Then we finished the rest of the test. So, yeah, no big deal.

I don't even know what to say. It was beyond description and 100% more surreal than I can convey.

AAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! (followed by laughter because the only thing we could all do today was just laugh at the ridiculousness of it all)

@.busis @ Will there be a recording of this webinar that gets posted?

@david.busis If I am writing the same organization over and over again, do I keep writing out the full name or do I abbreviate after the first time. In this instance National Christian College Athletic Association could be shortened to NCCAA after the first appearance (it appears three times on my résumé). I thought you had something on this in the admissions starter but then I couldn't find it (which could mean I was mistaken or that I just missed the appropriate section the second time).

7sage got me into my dream schools!

Thank you 7sage. The waiting process of admissions has been brutal but this week I got into both of my dream schools! None of this would have been possible without this amazing community. I cannot say enough times how awesome 7sage is and everytime I see what is new it seems to be getting better and better. I love this community and owe so much to many people here. THANK YOUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!

If I have time I will check to see how confident I am in all the answers if I get four in a row that are the same. I found it rare that they did four in a row (although it does exist) and I would often find if there was one I was wishy washy on that one was incorrect. I actually got several points on practice PTs this way. Overall though I would not spend a lot of time on this. The goal is to get good at answering the questions based on applied skills, not based on patterned guessing.

University of Chicago Application Question

In the University of Chicago application there is a section where it asks you to input the following and gives the following fields:

List the academic honors and awards, or other recognitions you have received.

Name of Award/Honor - - - - Date/Term Received - - - - - Description - - - - - - School

____________________ - - - - _________________ - - - - - _________ - - - - - - __________

I have some awards that are from athletics. Do I include them here? I feel like it depends on how you read the instruction sentence.

If so, some are from organizations not schools. Do I put the organization in that field or the school I was attending?

All of my awards are currently listed on my résumé. Do I list them here also? Do I remove the awards from my résumé?

Should I just email the admissions office at UChicago and ask?

Even simple things get complicated when it comes to law school.

Fair enough. Happy wife, happy life. I'm not sure what you mean by ask for information but in general I would not go against the explicitly expressed wishes of your future wife (or she may not be your future wife). Hopefully you will be able to find another way to make her father feel respected. Best of luck to you and congratulations!

Logic Games from PT 67 and 68, save or use?

I have not done PT 67 and 68 and am stuck between saving them in case I need fresh PTs for December (if I need to retake) and using them so I am familiar with the games in them. What do people with experience in those PTs think? I know from discussion threads I have seen (and from looking at the games categorizations) that 67 and 68 both have an unusual game in them. Will I be better off looking at those games or saving them? I certainly feel prepared for a good showing on this exam but with the LSAT you never know. I might be needing to do it again come Dec.

I would keep but none of this is useful advice in terms of "predicting" an outcome. All is unknown. Pray about it.

They are different but not necessarily more difficult. There are still definitely psuedo similar games throughout the old PTs. You just need to be thorough with exhausting old games as be VERY good with the "usual" games so you have maximum time on the new ones.

Aim for June. You do not want to do a non-disclosed test. Plus you want to make sure your skills are ready and not rushed.

I wish there was a way to know what is and is not legal. It seems like so much is based on guessing and rumor. There are so many students who want to study in a legit fashion but would obviously prefer to do it in a convenient fashion (i.e. not hunting all over the internet to buy "rare" PTs, etc.) and reasonable costs. I wish LSAC would address this.

Definitely don't count on transferring. It may happen but it may not. Just get in where you want to go.

I cannot tell you how frustrating it is to have a non-disclosed test. Since you moved to the June test you will be able to see everything from the test and you would have been able to see NOTHING! from the February one. That alone makes it worth it. You can actually learn and get some closure from the silly thing.

*I may have some unresolved issues related to this topic*

Yikes!

I studied 15-20 hours a week while working full time and didn't burn out at all. That may have been because I LOVED learning about the LSAT and improving my skills as I went through the core curriculum. You may be different in where your point of diminishing returns lies.

Take you time to process and eventually you will get over the what could have beens and be ready to move forward with whatever reality awaits. I have been struggling with my disappointing LSAT scores from Sept. and Dec. but it gets a little better each day and I'm slowly embracing reality instead of the what ifs.

I would advise you to ask and not just tell him your plans. It provides an olive branch toward the future and shows respect. Of course you will still ask even if he decides to say he does not approve but that is on him. Doing your part to offer bridges is honorable regardless of the outcome.

Some Positivity and Encouragement

Greetings all 7sagers!

I have noticed over the last few weeks that the discussions seem to be getting more and more panicked/negative/self-doubting/worried/pensive/etc. I am as neurotically worried as anyone about the LSAT (and it is less that two weeks away!) and I am in need of some inspiration! I think it makes sense to not complain about what others are not doing but to instead be the change you want to see in the world. Soooooo.....

Is anyone else excited about the opportunity to finally put this all of this practice and learning to the test (pun intended!). Come glorious conquering or complete failure or somewhere in between it will be a great challenge and one I can accept the outcome of because I am going to give it a great shot. Everything I have. And at the end of the day my score does not define me whether good or bad. If I score a 180 that does not define me. If I score a 120 that does not define me.

What a cool opportunity. I hope all of you get your rest, exercise, eat well, do a little last minute review, and enjoy family and friends.

Please respond AND start your own discussion with your own spin on something positive. Let's make the discussion board a place for both lament/worry/fear AND fearlessness/encouragement/joy.

In need of a kick in the butt

Greetings fellow 7sagers. I took the Sept. LSAT and did not score as I hoped so I am retaking in Dec. I am virtually out of virgin study material unless I go way back to PTs that do not have comparative passages (I really hope 79 comes out soon). I just tried taking PT 70 over again but I felt that I remembered too many of the questions even though it has been 3 months since I first took it. I finished every section well under the time constraints and missed only two questions. I feel like the real Dec. LSAT is going to be a huge kick in the teeth because I am out of practice on reacting to unseen questions. Should I do some older PTs (not sure how many of those I even have that are untouched) or does anyone have any other recommendations?

I am struggling with both direction for study and motivation (in part because I feel stuck and directionless).

Please help.

Thanks.

Thank you 7sage!

I have appreciated this community very much. I am grateful for the massive score increase 7sage made possible for me. I feel somewhat disappointed because I scored well below my PT average but I still got a good score and I would not have made nearly the strides I made without @"J.Y. Ping" , @"Dillon A. Wright" and the rest of the gang. I hope I will end up at the same law school as some of you and that we will have a great time being miserable together as 1Ls.

To all of you who are still preparing: Be courageous to take on the tough challenge. It will take you through many lows. Don't stop moving forward. The skills you cultivate will be with you long after the LSAT is gone.

May God bless you greatly,

7sage is the best!

Proctors: Middle of the road. Good but not great. Firm but not too strict.

Facilities: Plenty of room. Lighting could have been a little brighter. Temperature was fine. Chairs were reasonably comfy.

What kind of room: Large gathering room located in their Alumni Center which is just off campus.

How many in the room: We had about 25 but it could have easily accomodated several more.

Desks: Long skinny rectangles. Sadly, the surface was textured. Come on La Sierra.

Left-handed accommodation: Not needed with their setup.

Noise levels: Very quiet.

Parking: Plentiful and close. No sticker or permit needed.

Time elapsed from arrival to test: About half an hour.

Irregularities or mishaps: For some reason the proctor took about 3 seconds between sections 4 and 5 after she had moved at a much more normal pace on all the other change-overs. Watch reset had to happen super fast on that one.

Other comments: Bathroom facilities were decent and accomodated an appropriate number of people for the number who were taking the exam (which was NOT the case at my previous LSAT location).

Would you take the test here again? Yes

Sabbath Observer for Dec - How did it go?

Just thought I would check in and see how everyone felt about their exam. I took in Sept and felt much more calm that time. Today I was sooooooo nervous physically that I felt like most of the test was me battling through a weird mental haze.

Overall though I feel okay. I had a misread on BOTH of my LG sections that cost me some time but I think I was able to recover somewhat. Luckily the one I was most worried about was experimental but even then I may have done better on that one (who knows).

My frustration with RC was that I felt some of the summary questions were weirdly mostly on topic but there didn't seem to be one that was definitely on topic. Those always frustrate me.

It is great to have it in the rearview mirror!

Comparative Passage Strategy

I was just reviewing the comparative passage video by JY for PT 75 and had never encountered the approach of doing questions after passage A and then doing them again after passage B. Does anyone know where on 7sage I can find more about that strategy. I feel like I missed it somewhere. Do other 7sagers like this strategy/find it helpful? It seems like it would take extra time and I struggle with time on RC as it is. But perhaps it is like splitting game boards on LG where you make up the time on the questions?

Is it worth it to purchase PT C2?

I have taken lot of PTs old and new and have all of the recent PTs except for C2 (the previously undisclosed test in Superprep 2). I do not want to leave any stone unturned but within reason. $20 for one PT (I already have the other two from Superprep 2) seems silly unless (group 3 negate sufficient) there is a definite benefit. Is it recent (does anyone even know)? Does it have unusual games? I am probably leaning toward getting it but wanted to see what experience people have with it and what advice that experience would generate.

Help with PT 79

Unfortunately I was not able to take advantage of @"J.Y. Ping" 's BR sessions on 79. Now I am needing some help understanding some things from 79 to clarify my understanding. I feel decent about what I got wrong but I always like J.Y.'s explanation videos because they help cement or expose my learning as necessary. Are there any help places on the web with questions explanations for PT 79 or should I just corner @"Accounts Playable" during his office hours (because no one else will want his time...right?).

This weekend is going to be FUN. December LSAT here we come!

Are you sure?
