Hi all,

I studied abroad via a popular US program run out of Butler University in the United States (IFSA-Butler) [http://www.ifsa-butler.org/for-alumni/transcript-information.html]. I though that, since Butler University is a US institution and was issuing a US transcript, LSAC would accept these credits as part of my undergraduate record.

Has anyone had success with IFSA-Butler specifically, or with other study abroad programs in general?

Many thanks!

Did you ever get an answer to this? I just got my transcript and my study abroad grades are not included... (which is unfortunate because it would help my overall GPA). Might be worth calling LSAC.

Tips for studying with Broken Elbow

Hi all,

I took the LSAT in February and I was hoping to retake it again in June. Unfortunately, I broke my right elbow on Thursday. I am right handed and i'm typing this all with my left hand as we speak.

Has anyone here studied without you non-dominant hand? Any help on strategies on how to diagram logic games without writing it out by hand? I am more concerned w LG than the other sections. Hopefully I'll be healed by May.

Thanks!

Good question... I also studied abroad through IFSA Butler, but I guess I had thought that since the grades were on my unofficial transcript, they would be included in my undergrad transcript. Could be completely wrong though.

How many different LR experimental sections are there? I don't remember anything about joggers, art critics/opera, or light in space. I had LR-LG-LR-RC-LR I think? 1LR seemed hardest, 2nd easiest, 3rd in the middle.

I do remember questions about bikesharing, stretching with physicians/yoga. copyrighting songs vs paintings, teaching computer skills in school but I don't know if they were in the same section or not. Mostly remember question types.

Wow! This thread is incredible-- perfect timing since so many of us are taking the test this weekend.

I've worked a little bit in employment law before and I was definitely surprised at how interesting it was! I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would haha

As for me, I knew in college that I was interested in law but it wasn't until I volunteered and taught in a maximum security prison (it's definitely not something you can unsee/undo) that I really got interested in prison and drug policy reform. Not sure where I'll end up after law school, but I know eventually one day I want to get back into that kind of work.

I've worked in employment law as a paralegal for about 4.5 years total (first with farmworkers, now general employment, with a focus on immigrant workers who are victims of wage theft and expungements. Criminal records are a barrier to employment, so we try to eliminate those barriers and advocate with employers who won't hire people due to the criminal records. Sounds like this maybe right up your alley!) I'm sick of being a paralegal and want to be able to handle cases on my own. I like what I'm doing, but it can be frustrating not be able to do things because I am not an attorney.

Wow! I actually never even thought about that intersection! I think it'd would definitely be fascinating and fulfilling work! I've stayed involved with prison education and other related things since and have found that barriers to employment/re-entry is a huge issue that these guys face when they come out. Now I'm definitely going to keep that in mind when I go to law school

Let me know if you have any questions about my organization or our work! It's been a fun couple years and I've definitely learned a lot!

Take test in December or February?

Hey guys, first time poster here. I've been studying on and off for about 8 months. I've delayed taking the LSAT twice (never signed up) because I didn't feel like I was going to be ready. When I first started in February - May, I was only studying about once or twice a week, so not much. Then I was pretty good for 2 weeks and then immediately took 2 months off. I felt that the only way to kick my but into studying was to register. So I'm currently registered for December, but I am NO where close to where I want my score to be, so I am considering delaying it again, but keeping up the same studying intensity. I am not applying this cycle. I guess the only draw backs is the fact that this will have been the 3rd time I've delayed taking it and the Feb test is undisclosed.

opinions? Thanks!

My study timeline was similar to @ . August 2016 - February 2017, then May - September. I scored my average BR score of 168 on test day in September.

I had the premium course, and extended it by purchasing the explanations for most of the newer PTs, 70 - 81 (there is usually a sale for the newest PT when 7Sage releases their explanations). I was able to improve on LG by fool proofing and going through most of the games 1 - 35.

Also - I had a 20 point increase from my diagnostic, but I studied for roughly a year (took a couple months off after breaking my elbow)

I am pretty shocked. I took the LSAT first in February, didn't finish any sections and got at 159, 3 points higher than I had ever PT'ed. This time, I got extra time, was PTing at 163 and somehow got a 168??!! My thought after taking it this time was, "That was HARD!" but maybe because my last section was RC/judge passage?

For everyone re-taking - you can do it!!

I'm plotting my pre-law school travels to South American and around the US. Distracts me pretty well, but also makes me so excited I can't sleep!

Where are you headed? I've been to Brazil and Uruguay and Argentina. Uruguay is my favorite, but it depends on what you are into.

@

I’m planning on heading to Patagonia and making my way from Ushuaia to Buenos Aires, but going up the Chilean side. I’ve been to Argentina a couple times and told myself I’d be back to experience on my bicycle! I might try to make it to Uruguay if I have time. Maybe up to Iguazu!

I totally bombed both LR sections (1st section was worse than the 2nd), but I did better than I have done on RC and LG (got them all right, usually I'm at -2!). And now I'm reviewing my extra 5th section and I got -2 in LR... Not sure what is happening!

Glad to know I wasn't the only one.

Have you been accomdated for an exam listed here (https://www.lsac.org/jd/lsat/accommodated-testing/prior-accommodations) ?

If so, I think you only need to satisfy II.

Unfortunately I did not get extended time on the SATs. I was pretty stubborn and didn't want to accept help even if i needed it...

@@ said:

I believe they will have to fill out the statement of need form. Not 100% sure so wait until you hear back from the LSAC to be sure.

Thanks for your input!

Statement of Need for accommodations

Hi All,

I am trying to get accommodations for the September LSAT. I was diagnosed with ADHD due to attention in high school and I have issues with processing speeds/short term memory. I recently got re-tested since the first testing is over 12 years old and I'm going to submit psychologist's report. My question is, does the psychologist also have to fill out the "Statement of Need" or is her report enough? I tried to ask LSAC today, but they wouldn't tell me over the phone and then I e-mailed, but it might take a while for them to get back.

I received accommodations in high school (well I have a 504 plan) but I didn't really take any (that I remember at least) in college. I've been scoring consistently 154, but then around a 163-167 when I BR/go back and answer the questions I ran out of time to answer.

Thanks!

I was unclear if it was 14 business days from submitting my request (I did via e-mail and got the automated response they sent to everyone), or from the e-mail I received 2 days later confirming the receipt of my accommodation request. So I either heard in within 15 or 13 business days. Hopefully you'll hear today.
