Add me/send me the link to the Discord! I'm currently PTing 174-180 but pretty inconsistent. I'd love to have people around to motivate me and help discuss difficult problems.

Free Group Tutoring Session for LR (Wed 12/2)

Hi, I posted on here before talking about free group tutoring, especially in LR (see post linked below!)

I wanted to let everyone know (and possibly some new people as well) that the time/topic has been finalized!

The group session will on Wednesday 12/2 noon/12pm GMT+9, or 10pm EST. It should go on for around 1.5-2, or so, and I'm going to be covering, roughly, the following topics:

  • Some general information about the LR
  • Formal Logic in the LSAT: a systematic approach
  • Taking Blind Review a step further
  • Afterwards, I'll be going through an entire LR section and talking through my approach. If you want to follow along, please have PT20 S1 in hand.

Join the following zoom link @noon/12pm GMT+9, or 10PM EST!

    with password 686121

Conf Id 552 864 7080 also works with the same password. Thanks, and see you soon!

If you can't make the time, I'll try my best to schedule a second session, so please let me know.

Wow this got way more responses than I ever expected it would! Regardless, I think I should be able to find a way to be helpful in some way to each and every one of you.

Please email or dm me your last 5-6 PT scores (basically your average score range), how long you've been studying, and a quick self-diagnosis of your problem sections. That could be anything from "I have struggle with NA questions" to "LR as a whole is difficult for me."

To give a bit of a overview of my thought process, I think that if you're scoring between 145-early/mid 160s, getting a stronger grasp of your fundamentals is paramount, especially if you find LR is holding you back. For you wonderful folks, I'm planning, for now, a group session sometime next week (and hopefully more on a weekly/twice a week basis) where I'll go through my strategies for combatting what I call the "Operation" question type in LR. That includes strengthen, weaken, etc. If that sounds like it'd be helpful for you, please be sure to email or dm me!

On the other hand, if you're consistently scoring above 170, then I think the approach to the test becomes a bit different. Also, more individualized help is likely to be more of use to you than general knowledge (which I would assume you already have at this point). For you folks, please message me in a bit more detail what troubles you're having, and we can have a quick talk discussing how I can help you 1 on 1!

Thanks everyone for responding! And have a great rest of your day.

Oh yeah, that's a tricky question. I diagrammed it as:

Quit job —> ~leave of absence

Leave of absence —> ~quit job

    (~ indicating not)

It seemed to work. I'll just write out my solution in terms of formal logic.

Assuming that she was offered a fellowship, from the premises, we know that:

1.~allowed to take leave of absence —> camp finds out

    and

    2.quit job —> ~leave of absence

We need to connect that to the conclusion that:

quit job —> camp finds out

We can see that one element of each side of the conclusion exists in each premise. Let’s connect the premises with an assumption:

~leave of absence —> ~allowed to take leave of absence

    This gives us:

quit job —> ~leave of absence —> ~allowed to take leave of absence —> camp finds out

Voila. D is the contrapositive of this solution.

However, I would recommend against using formal logic in this question. While it's good practice, it just makes everything so much more complicated.

Looking to tutor students of all ranges for free

    Hi everyone!

I'm a consistent high 170's-180 scorer that is looking to expand outwards and tutor others, both as a learning experience and a way to see if I'm any good at this haha.

Although I'm not by any means an experienced teacher, I want to offer some free group sessions where I would go through sections and provide my thought process on each of the questions.

If you're looking for something more individualised, I'd love offer some (also) free individual 30-minute-ish sessions where I would try my best to identify problem sections and help you chart a way forward. If we click, maybe we can organise something more long-term!

Of the three sections, LR is where I have the most comprehensive (and possibly insightful) knowledge, so if that's a problem for you, please hit me up!

Hope you're all having a great day, and please let me know if you're interested!

(Btw, I'm in Korea, so the timezones might be a bit screwed up)

@ I’m so sorry but I don’t think this will be happening this week anymore. I’ll be pushing it a week because my computer, which I use to do all this stuff, is completely out of order. I’m so sorry :(

Free Group Session for LR (Wed 1/20 9PM EST)

    Hi everyone!

I'm a consistent high 170's-180 scorer that's been tutoring for around 2-3 months now. I hope everyone who's currently taking the Jan test is doing well, and congrats!

This sesh is more for people who are targeting the Feb/April test, and is generally geared towards all skill ranges, but primarily focused on beginners. If you were on the discussion forum a few months ago, you may have seen this post before - the lesson is essentially going to be the same thing, but do stop on by if you want to do any review on formal logic or LR approaches.

I'll be holding the session on Wednesday 9PM EST. It should go on for around 1.5-2hrs, or so, and I'm going to be covering, roughly, the following topics:

  • Some general information about the LR
  • Formal Logic in the LSAT: a systematic approach
  • Taking Blind Review a step further

    Hi everyone!

I'm a consistent high 170's-180 scorer that's been tutoring for around 6 months now. I hope everyone who's currently taking the June test is doing well, and congrats for finishing!

This sesh is more for people who are targeting the August test, and is generally geared towards all skill ranges, but primarily focused on beginners. If you were on the discussion forum a few months ago, you may have seen this post before - the lesson is essentially going to be the same thing, but do stop on by if you want to do any review on formal logic or LR approaches.

I'll be holding the session on Wednesday 6/23 9PM EST. It should go on for around 1.5 hrs, or so, and I'm going to be covering formal logic in the LSAT + a systematic approach of looking at it. This will likely be review for many!

Afterwards, I'll be going through an LR section and talking through my approach, while also taking questions. If you want to follow along, please have PT20 S1 in hand.

I'm not a 7Sage approved tutor, or anything of the sort, but I scored quite high (178) on the October Flex, and have done some light tutoring here and there since. I don't know how much help I'd exactly be, since I'm still fairly new to this, BUT I'd be happy to take a look at what you're getting wrong/how you're getting stuff wrong, and see if we could keep working together!

@ Uhhh I didn't, but I was able to sign up around 2-3 hours before just by logging in with my ProctorU account. The option just happened to be there, and I took it. Makes sense that the LSAC doesn't have any record of that.

I also just called LSAC, and they said everything looked fine, so I guess I'm good. Thanks though!

Probably the 80s games are more indicative of the real test than anything, but I wouldn't worry. You're probably just getting more adjusted to the new games (since the tests before the 70s and after the 70s are significantly different), and will be just fine with some more practice.

@ Of course. I'm planning a review for this session and last week's session sometime this weekend. I'll let you know when it's finalised :)

Hi, I hosted a group session last week where we went over Formal Logic in the LSAT, a new way to approach LR, and a full LR section! Thank you to everyone that showed up :)

I'm going to be hosting weekly group sessions (at least for the month of December), so this week, I hope to see you on 12/9 Wed 10PM EST. It should go on for around 1-1.5hrs, or so, and I'm going to be covering, roughly, the following topics:

  • Logic Games: A Systematic Approach
  • Taking Blind Review (and review in general!) a step further
  • Afterwards, I'll be going through an entire LR section, taking questions, and talking through my approach. If you want to follow along, please have PT21 S2 in hand.

I think that's just the case in general for the test. For me, I try to keep my "glancing back/re-reading" to a minimum by just getting all the info I need down on the scratch paper and never looking back at the original stim.

Also! Remember that the newer LGs don't require you to make as much upfront deductions as the old ones do. It's really trending towards finding deductions while solving the questions.
