Suggestions Please

I need a word of encouragement and/or advice. This is embarrassing to me. I passed reading comprehension in elementary school and I took a course in Humanities at both the high school and college levels whereby I passed both classes with ease. However, for both Humanities classes high school and college, reading comprehension was not tested like test questions on the LSAT. I talked to a librarian who informed me that reading comprehension is can be highly opinionated. Furthermore, for inference questions, the answer is usually something that I would have never thought of - way out there in left field. I've tried GRE reading comprehension study guides and have been able to go through the questions with ease all answers correct. However, on a different day in a different mood, I've tried other non-LSAT practice test from other sources whose name I will not mention by means of embarrassment and was not able to get a single answer right. What's happening and what needs to change besides my attitude toward LSAT reading comprehension. I feel totally embarrassed by this, but I am encouraged to know that in reading the discussions that I am not the only person totally upset, frustrated and having problems or issues with reading comprehension. Please help. In my opinion, the basic concept or idea of RC comes from the basic elementary school theory of RC, how well did you understand the material of what you read, "Reading for understanding". For a person who has been speaking and reading the English language for quite some time, several, many years; elementary, high school and college and has passed elementary school, high school and college; how can this be; difficult with wrong answers...??? !!! Again PLEASE HELP or explain.

Self - Study Books Prep Question

Does anyone have any comments about Blueprint RC, The LSAT Trainer or Fox Logical Reasoning books? How many books do we have to buy for prep to score high? There are a lot of LSAT books and study courses on the market. What is the best approach to prepare for this exam?

Personally, I don't think any of the games require brute force, it's all the way you "play the game"; set up the diagram and answer the questions. However, I personally think they all use brute force because LSAT LG can be tricky and hell to solve if you make a mistake, ignore or make a wrong inference, contrapositive / conditional. The mistake(s) can mean a difference in LSAT score and admission to the law school. I'm not an expert, but in my opinion you need to consider all logic games of equal importance because one little word can make a simple game hard and what looks simple can actually be difficult, time consuming and a lot of work. Although, on the flip side what looks difficult could actually be easy and with less time to solve if you do it right. I hope this helps. I would also like to say, watch your stress; it makes a big difference in your judgment decision making and thinking processes. Stay focused and study, study, study.... Good luck. I'll keep you in my prayers. I'm still studying.

Reading Passages

I'm just getting started with this and I would like to know what is the difference between the Law, Humanities, Social Science and Natural Science passages, especially if the sole purpose ti for structure and reasoning. Is it important to make a distinction between them, if so why? Is there a difference between the types of questions asked, if so why? Is there a difference in the type of reading or style per passage. The test is not suppose to favor any particular major, however, the jargon and background knowledge makes it difficult and seems to favor or reward those in certain fields of study. For example, I would expect a criminal justice major to do well on the law passage, a biology major to breeze through the science passage, and an english major to thoroughly enjoy the literature humanities passage. Please comment. I need all the help and the advice I can get. Thank you

Numbered Ordering

I'm confused with definition and/or terminology. Is numbered ordering the same as basic linear ordering (with a number line), or is there a difference? [3D numbered ordering and Advanced Linear ordering]

Also is there any relationship between numbered ordering and relative ordering.

Please help. Thank you.

Thanks. This was a big help...!!!! I was totally getting confused the more I studied. Left - right, top to bottom and vice versa, first being last and last being first, tree branches of who/what (character) is actually connected, (before/after) or just dangling off to the side. Thank you very much.

This course sounds really exciting and helpful. Is there a time period for completion or can one study at their own pace?

Yes, Thank you. The computer re-formats whatever I type. For the other question at the top, the notation should be (hopefully):

Y--Z

\

V--W--M--X

/

K

X

\

C

The computer would not connect C to X

This is helpful. I was confused and under the impression to go in any direction with starting point could range anywhere on the diagram ----> , <---- , up or down and getting confused especially with forks and (multiple forks) in the road; high being low and right going left. Focusing on "character" W, who's first, last and what is the seat assignment. Also, are there any natural (given) limits or restrictions to these problems. What about overall inferences, deductions, and formal logic, (sufficient/necessary) conditionals or contrapositive. Thanks

Thanks. I'm struggling to understand relative ordering. From your format: #1. Can E be selected first and precede B and A. If so what happens to C - D, or A; if the order or ranking is (E, B, A) or (E, B, C, D). I'm confused. Looks like somebody or something can get (omitted) for a possible wrong answer. Also, #2. Can D be selected first to precede E for a direction where C precede B and E follows next. Question #3. What about A. If D is first what's the order. Maybe, I'm complicating this, but if D is first what happens to A or E. If B precedes A and E, which is last, A or E, and do the test makers include a clue to define excluded letter(s). The story gets worse with multiple branches dangling off the sides and in the middle; as per who or what is first, last, which direction to travel and position fit (in/out) of the group, (individual) chain ranking, order, assignment or sequence. If B precedes E and in a scenario where other letters enter the party after E, say X and Q, Z or Y, which ways can the squirrel travel up, down or around the tree in order to get the nut and score the point at the end of the branch. Who is first, last, ranked high to low or vice versa, or can be possibly omitted. Thanks for your help. Signed - mixed up, lost and confused.

It's not from a preptest. I was trying to get a general understanding of relative ordering tree branch. It is similar to an example in the Blueprint Study Guide. I was confused. The relative ordering (tree diagram) looks like questions can come (start) from any direction as if L was first what must or could be true or false about the other letters R,P,Q, G and F. Likewise if F is considered chosen first. Would L or Q be last; and for more fun, Pick R, P or G for a scenario. What happens with L, Q and/or F which direction does one proceed ?

Sorry for any typos. There's no i. Just trying to make or show a connection with letters top to bottom. I am trying to understand the concept for the "sock-it-to-me" questions. Thanks again. The above was very helpful. With more complex tree diagrams it gets complicated, confusing and approach organization is necessary to prevent chaos and wrong answers. If you have any more wonderful suggestions please do not hesitate to help a fellow poor "LSATer" out. I'm struggling here. Sometimes I feel like taking the test and closing my eyes and pick one. A, A, A, A, straight down the test, but I know I can do better. This test is my opportunity. Studying hard and studying the wrong way with stress does not accomplish the desired high LSAT score for entrance to my desired first choice Law School. The LSAT is no joke and no laughing matter. Skills, concepts and practice efficiently.

Thanks everyone. Can any of this be used in connection to relative ordering?

When I work through the books I am able to follow, sometimes, but when I go to the practice test, there is always something different or improvised that causes me to freak out. Are there any precedence rules or words of encouragement when tackling challenging logic games.

The computer messed up again.

For the first question, the branch should be

I

G

The computer made an error in printing.

V

And for the first question.

Relative Ordering

I would like to ask this question.

For relative ordering.

Q - R- P - L

l

G - F

Given the above, who is, could, should or would be first and last and what is the order and ranking?

Also for the same problem.

Y - Z

l

V - W - M - X

l l

K C

Would someone please help me to understand this relative ordering. Thank You.
