Is this an LR section or RC section?

Hi there,

I don't necessarily know the best practice for this, but I would recommend (if others have insights please chime in if I am correct in my thinking) that you ask your professor to write you a letter for law school applications, let them know that you will be applying in the next 2-3 years, and that you hope they can write it now (assuming you've been in school recently) so that your performance in school is fresh in their minds. In my opinion, I am a couple of years out of school, I would feel awkward asking for a letter from a professor after not having been in class with them for three years. The professors I am asking all have written letters for me in the past so I know they have something written for me already and I feel comfortable asking for a letter in a year or so.

That being said, I don't know much about how LSAC accounts work, but I don't know if its the smartest thing to ask for letters to be uploaded to an LSAC account now, seeing as the letter will be out of date by the time you apply and circumstances might have changed.

One thing that might help when asking is sending them your current resume, personal statement (if you have one) and a short blurb (more informal than a cover letter) about why you want to go to law school. This is so that when they're writing it they have it in mind. Furthermore, if they don't write it right away, or if they do and your resume changes in the next 2-3 years, whenever you ask for them to upload it, def send an updated resume etc so they can adjust the letter accordingly.

Hope this helps!

Hi there,

For your first question about the copy-paste function, I think that this feature is entirely disabled by the testing software. If I remember correctly, this and some other keyboard shortcuts are not allowed. Fun fact, my tutor said that the ctrl + F function IS allowed though. (huge W for reading comp, IMO).

I don't know how the writing sample works, (aren't you required to do the writing sample each time?) but if you feel strongly that your writing content for the one you already took was good, I wouldn't stress about the conclusion. But if you are considering not doing the writing again just because you (apparently, lol) don't need to, why not take a second crack at it.

Hi there,

I would DEFINITELY start doing more modern tests. My best recommendation is saving maybe 10-15 tests (randomly selected between 70-93) in the event that you need to retake. But I would highly recommend taking more modern tests as the questions vary slightly (and personally, I think get harder) as you move upwards in test number. This will definitely help get you ready for February!

Hi there,

I, like you, only took the first few problem sets when I was going through the core curriculum as well. Yes, they are on the easier side, so it might benefit you to do one of the easier ones and one of the harder ones, if you're only doing two at a time. For me, I am studying about 15h/week after finishing the core curriculum and find it very very useful to go back to those problem sets, especially for those that I am struggling with. The benefit of this is not wasting time on the problem sets that come easier to you (the problem sets can be time and energy consuming) and spending a lot more time on the more challenging ones. I like this approach because I still get to see my progress bar increase on the syllabus page, something that doesn't move if you use the drills. I still use the drills when doing different types of drills or full sections, but this is just my perspective. Hope this helps!

Thread for motivating statements

Hi all,

I have ADHD and my medication recently stopped working altogether for me (apparently its a thing that sometimes happens). I haven't been able to study in WEEKS because of my ADHD brain and I just pushed the April test to June to give myself more time, given this disruption. I need studying motivation. Please, if you have any advice, kind words, or a compelling story to tell that might inspire some motivation in me, share it if you feel comfortable. This is a rough time for me and I am just looking for some support.

can we talk about the fact that the old problem sets increase in difficulty? I have only been doing the first few to save the other ones for later so I've only been doing the easy and old ones???

In a similar boat here. High stress job that has me working overtime most weeks. Do you all recommend studying in the morning before work? for me it would be 6-8am and I need to know if this is worth it and any tips for getting myself up in the morning to do it...
