To make the most of your investment of time and resources, it might be better to wait until you hear back (admitted or WL) before visiting. If admitted, you can use your visit to make a fully informed decision. If WL'd, then you will have ample material to write about in a Why X Law School essay and/or LOCI. However, if this is the time you can set aside to visit schools, you should definitely visit! Make sure you contact the admissions offices and let them know that you are visiting on a particular day and wish to speak with an admissions officer and if possible, a current student (the best resources!). When you visit, have 3-5 solid questions you would like to ask the AO. For example: what % of students participate in clinics/journals; what % of 1L students participate in on-campus-recruiting for summer associate positions; what are you study abroad programs. Do your research into the school and its programs. If you visit before a final decision on your file is made, you will want to make a favorable impression as your visit and conversation with the AO will likely be written up in your file. Good luck!

Thank you so much! Very helpful :)

Hi all! I submitted my apps late in the cycle (late Jan. and early Feb.) since I was waiting for my January LSAT score. I'm thinking of using the next few Fridays to visit schools since I don't expect to hear back for some time (just went complete) and my LSAT score could've been a few points higher... Before I book transport, do you think it's best to wait to hear back or that it's not worth the money/PTO days? I was thinking of sitting in on classes or speaking to admissions and writing LOCI's to strengthen my applications. Specifically talking about schools in DC (& UVA) and in Boston. Appreciate the input!!

Hi All, i'm in the downtown area as well and am happy to meet at the Battery Park library or the other one if better. Studying for Jan 2019 after a shocking lower November score.

@ @ I'm in the exact situation as both of you (PT'd in 160s and shockingly got a 156 in Nov./retaking in January). Let me know if you'd like to review/study together!

Help/advice...what now??

My November score isn’t what I was expecting and I have no idea what to make of it now...

First take was December 2017 and because of various things that went wrong at the test center/distracted me I ended with a 157 (have an LSAC letter explaining subpar conditions). I delayed a year and studied more on and off this year for November 2018, PT’ing in 163-166 (BR’ing 170-173)...and although I felt somewhat confident I got a 155. I did run short on time in two sections but didn’t think it’d impact me much. I have all my apps ready and was planning to submit now. I can’t delay another year as I already have, should I take January? I have finished the 7Sage curriculum and done a lot of PTs, but still have a lot left. Any advice please?? :(

I would really suggest starting with LG. That is generally a section where you can see real improvement. I would consider fool-proofing, at least for more challenging logic games. Start pting but don't ignore how helpful sections can be. Just make sure whatever you do, you are BRing correctly and applying what your learn to the next PT.

As for RC, you are two months out so you have some time. Try looking for passage structure. There are a few "types" of RC passages the LSAT will throw at you; science phenomenon passage, the artist biography, the discrepancy in ancient and modern law passage etc. I know there are really helpful webinars on 7Sage that discuss how to tackle various RC passages based on the passage structure. This is where low-res summaries come into play. Good Luck!

Thank you! Very helpful!

Retake Approach Advice for November?

I was studying for the Sept. exam but finished the curriculum so close to the exam date I didn't get to take enough PTs before and wasn't exactly where I wanted to be so I withdrew. In the few that I took I was PT'ing in low 160's but BR'ing in high 160's/low 170's. My goal score is a 167 or higher so I know I'm close! I'm good on LR but need to improve in LG & RC and have 2 months to prep. I haven't tried fool-proofing yet, is it smart to spend a whole month fool-proofing or should I just take PTs and drill these two months?

THANK YOU!

Do every single LG section from PTs 1-35 untimed/timed/and watch the explanation videos as many times as you need to for every single game until you basically get every single question on each game both correct and completed in or under the target time that JY gives . Some games you'll only need to repeat once or twice. Others you may need to repeat 5-10 times. This will give you a solid foundation in making inferences. This method has made LG my favorite section. Best of luck to you! You've got this. Just put in the time.

Hi! Is there a way to just get the logic games for 1-35?

I took a longer break than I should have after the December exam but I am now ready to get back into studying and giving it my all so that hopefully June is my last exam! I completed the Starter course and got a 160, but my goal is to score around 167-170 so I upgraded to the Ultimate. How should I get back into it after this hiatus? Should I redo the CC? I never actually foolproofed last time I prepped, though I did BR all of my PTs (took about 20). I work full-time but can use early mornings and sometimes evenings as well as weekends. Any advice is appreciated! :)

For foolproofing your LG after the 2 months of cc, which tests did you use?

The logic games bundle, so all of 1-35, that comes with ultimate+

Hi @, thank you so much for doing this, congrats on the killer score! Two questions,1. did you ONLY foolproof for a month before moving on to drills and PTs? And 2. When you did the two sections a day of PTs 40-52, did you just print the exams and assign different sections to different days? Did you BR those sections?

@ Thank you :) I see you have the Ultimate Plus, does that package come with all of the most recent exams? I just did the upgrade to Ultimate today and am thinking paying the extra $200 might be worth it for the "harder" questions, drill packets, and recent PTs

Of course :)

Yup -- comes with access to every test! 1-82 (soon to be 83)

The best part about Ult + is having all the tests (printable), the Logic games and LR bundles, and all of the explanations! Plus, there's an awesome question bank. It's just nice having everything in one place on your computer. Makes studying much more easy!

If you can afford it, and you have time to take advantage of all the extras, I would highly recommend it.

I completed the Starter and would begin the Plus now to prep for the June exam. I work full time, do you think the 5 months is enough?

As a former taker of the February LSAT, I can tell you there is nothing terrifying about it. It is scored the same as the others and I tested one point below my average.

It was annoying to never know which sections I missed questions in. It also is a little discomforting to know answers can't be challenged since you don't know what the questions are or what you missed. Not finishing the games section and still scoring a 172 was a good clue as to what I missed though.

Knowing wwhat you missed wasn't information worth waiting to take until June just to know what you missed if you are ready now nor was it worth foregoing its potential scholarship negotiation value for if you need the score this cycle though.

Perks of Feebruary test for the next cycle:

For me it was relaxing to have a nice long time before my retake. I skipped June and retook in September studying over the summer. The long break between official tests paid off with a 180.

Schools started sending fee waivers a cycle early and I just replied back thanking them and asking if they could give me them the next cycle.

Good luck!

Were most schools willing to save your fee waiver for the next cycle? I'm receiving waivers now from the Dec. exam and thinking of emailing, thank you!

I'm on the same boat as you my friend. I had all of my essays ready and was considering taking the Feb. exam and still applying this cycle but it doesn't seem favorable at all when compared to studying more (possibly improving my score) and then applying really early in the next cycle. It was a hard choice to make because I would like to leave my job and start school already, but it's such an important factor in our careers that I accepted it wouldn't be smart to rush it. Best of luck!

Test date change deadline is 1/9, so you have about a week to figure out whether your momentum is going to translate to actual score gains or if you'll spend all that time just trying to play catch-up to the position that you were in before. Important to be honest with yourself and not let your desire to be done with the test overwhelm a clear-eyed assessment of whether your skills are up to par.

Since this isn't a case of under-performing your preptests, there are probably actual skills issues involved. You need to develop those skills to a point where they are usable in the test environment (capability), and then hone them to a point where you can be consistent and disciplined in deploying them (consistency). It's a tall order for 4 weeks. I'm not saying it can't be done, but it's important to recognize that hard work isn't a sufficient condition here.

In addition to getting access to more practice questions and devoting yourself to preptests and the like, you may want to see if engaging a tutor will help. Plenty of great options on the 7Sage tutors list at a variety of price points. Sometimes, it really does take a third party to tell you what you're missing in your self-evaluation.

Thank you so much for your response! I think I will wait till June to develop the skills needed for those extra points. Do you have any tips on how to build on the prep I already did for Dec. now for June? It seems so far away and I'm afraid I'll end up relearning rather that supplementing like you said.

Why not both? I recommend upgrading to Ultimate+ (best plan) and study for Feb/June!

The deadline to change exam date is next week and not sure if I'll know how ready I am for February by then :/ Thank you, I think i'll do Ultimate!

It depends on whether or not you want to apply this cycle. If you can wait until next cycle, upgrade to the Ultimate version and wait until the June test :)

I'm applying next cycle and I think you're probably right!

I completed the Starter course and took the Dec. exam, but scored below my goal score. I got a 160 (was PT-ing between 162-164) and my target score is 168-170. I'm registered for the Feb. exam and don't know if I should extend the Starter course and do a lot of PTs these next few weeks/ review lessons for February OR if I should hold off for June and upgrade to the premium or ultimate and study for longer. I'm afraid I'll lose momentum from the Dec. exam. Appreciate any advice, thank you!!

CAS doesn't expire for 5 years, and if you've paid LSAC for something, a test registration for example, it extends your expiry date. So you don't need to worry about losing your transcripts and letters. Whether you ask your recommenders upload now or later is up to you. If you'd rather have them finish the letter now, do it. If you'd rather wait until you're applying so you can inform them of any new things that have happened, wait. Some professors prefer writing the letter when you're actually applying though, so maybe double check that.

Thank god! Do law schools see that the recs were written a year ago/care about it? Thank you!

Delaying a cycle...CAS questions?

I was hopeful that I could apply this cycle and most of my recommenders have already uploaded my recs to my file, unfortunately that won't be the case. Does CAS save my transcripts & LORs so I can reuse next cycle? Or will I have to repurchase it and ask them to upload everything again next year? Also some recommenders haven't uploaded yet, do I ask them to wait for next year?

Thank you!

This whole thing is very fishy. When has LSAC ever tweeted in advance of score release? And who went ahead and tweeted without confirming what they had heard?
