I'm not ready. But it's to late to get my money back in anyway so I'm sitting the test anyway. But I'm canceling my score. Hopefully I'm ready by February to take it again.

Torn on what to do

Hey fellow 7Sagers,

If your like me (and it seems like a lot are) and got less than your average score, please dont feel like your alone. I scored almost 4 points lower than my usual average, and missed my goal score by 3 points. I am not sure what to do. I did get 5 points higher than my last LSAT (2016 v. 2017) but I am not sure if I should take it a 3rd time or let it be. I am below the 25% at my target school, and my GPA is in the middle of the 25% and median. So I am not sure if I should retest or not. The LAST thing I want is for a school to average my scores-that would be a nightmare. I have a strong personal statement and I fill so many diversity boxes that I know I am a strong applicant. I just dont know if I should retest or not. Can I submit applications without a full commitment to retesting? If I get accepted, there is no way in hell I want to retest. Advice?

Merry Christmas either way.

Exact same on my end too. Even if I feel good about a game, the time's right, and I get just one wrong, I foolproof it (albeit fewer times than if I genuinely struggle with a given game). Keeping a couple extra copies on hand to review the next day and a few weeks down the line is also really helpful, as the others have mentioned. Like you, I categorized mine. With the extra copies, however, I mix them up for when I revisit them in a week or two. Games used to be my absolute worst section by far and now I'm averaging around -2 or -3 and working to getting it to -1 or 0. Good luck!

Thanks! I am working on getting to -3 or better a game. I just started doing this method so I know I have my work cut out for me. I will also mix up my retests.

I look forward to working on this section. Thanks everyone for the advice.

LG advice/help and when to redo a game

So I have printed all the LG and grouped them by type (basic linear, advanced linear, grouping etc). I am also using the spreadsheet to track my times, questions wrong and date taken. I am trying to figure out when do I repeat the same LG? Should I do the game, watch the video, and immediately redo the game? Or should I wait to redo the game until the next day? How much lag time should I have between the initial time doing the game and redoing the game after watching the video?

Thanks for the help!!

So I personally have not used Kaplan. I know someone who is currently in law school (not a good one) he did the Kaplan course twice. He got a 142 on his first LSAT, then redid the course because of their promise of "if you don't get the score you were expecting then you can retake it for free" so he retook it and got a 144. He somehow got into law school after his third attempt with a 145. It is a local school, it is not ranked and charges 3-4x what the local ranked school charges. Basically a "as long as you have a pulse, then you get in" type deal. I have never heard of Kaplan doing well by their students-so I have always stayed away. I am curious though, as to why you would consider them over 7Sage? I have personally had my struggles with 7Sage, but I have used the forum to figure out where to go back to and reattach. And in doing so I have found so many principles I somehow missed when doing my initial prep. Perhaps your like me and you need a reattack?

Texas A&M School of Law. I didn't get to go there for undergrad, I wish it had worked out that way but it didn't. I want to be an Aggie, I want the network, I want core values and I want to be the best with the best. I want to practice in Texas, and I know there is great schools for my kid in Fort worth. I know A&M will be a big sacrifice, but it will be worth it. Its not that I dont want to go to a big name school, I do (kinda), but I will not sacrifice my kid's education to get mine. And Texas has great schools.

Yeah, I am worried for sure. I hope I see you there. We are planning to build in northern Fort Worth. Near Haslet, a bit of a commute but I have a kid and the school district is great. Inner city school districts are horrid even for Texas. There is a big veteran community there too. Which is nice.

@ I am trying to go to TAMU fall of 18. I have enough post 9/11 to pay for the first two years, and my husband is going to transfer 30 hours to me so I can pay for my last year of school. Unless I get high enough on the LSAT I can negotiate them paying for my last year. Where you thinking of trying to go?

I have been going back and forth for 2 days. I had to skip a game (game 2) and come back to it, and I ran out of time. I guessed hardcore on 4 questions. Ugh!! I am also concerned that I was somehow high as a kite for RC because everyone is saying it was hard but I thought it was okay. I am freaking out. I am worried. I had LR LG LR LR RC

Well, the logical thing is to go back to the course curriculum and restart. I am trying very hard to not be discouraged by the fact I am restarting again. Maybe this time will be the time for improvement. Frankly (and honestly) I am really discouraged. I was hoping to be starting law school in fall 2017, and now I am not 100% sure I can even start in fall 2018. But I know I'm not going anywhere if I don't get this score up.

Need advice on improving my score

So I took the December LSAT last year and scored a fabulous 143. I knew I wasn't ready, but couldn't bring myself to lose $190, so I tested anyway hoping to get lucky. Well, no luck came my way for obvious reasons. But after going through the curriculum I find myself scoring between 141-145 still. I dont know where I am going wrong. I take each PT under exam conditions, I circle the ones I am not sure of (which is about 15 or less questions a section) and when I am done testing, I go back to the test and reread the questions. I dont think I am rushing, I try to stay focused and engaged in the questions. But I am obviously doing something wrong. I thought I would be able to take the September test, but I know I am not ready. I am not concerned so much about that, as I am the fact I am not improving. Has anyone faced this problem? I am really getting frustrated because I seriously feel like I am doing everything the way we are supposed to but I am not getting any increases in scores. (BTW my highest BR score was a 151 and that happened exactly one time)

Any advice, tough love or people who have had similar experiences would be greatly appreciated.

I made the mistake of testing before I was getting my goal test score. It just leads to frustration, disappointment and one blown test chance. I am not an expert but don't test until you are getting the scores you want consistently.

I truly needed this post. I feel like I am stupid because I can't figure out how to break into the 150s. I have been trying to remember this takes time but I feel like this has been a huge waste of time because I'm not doing any better than when I started the program. But thanks for this post and the comments.

If you’re still in undergrad, the prelaw advisor should be a good free resource to check over your PS. If you have good mentor relationship with a professor, that might be another option too.

I am no longer in undergrad. I graduated in 2016. But I suppose I could ask some old professors. Or a friend who I think was an English major. She might have more time than the professors who are dealing with dead week and finals. Thanks!!

Application hell and consultants

So I like many others am currently waiting for LSAC to publish last Saturday's results. Is it to much to ask that they post results within 4 days of taking the exam? So I have switched gears to seriously getting out applications. I have started looking at consultants to help fine tune my personal statement and my resume. I am worried that with my gpa already locked in and my LSAT score up in the air, I could be on the line for my dream school. My GPA is dead in between the 25% and 50%. I just need help making sure I sound good on paper in case my LSAT score comes back in the 25% as well. Any advice? I don't have thousands to spend on making myself look bright and shiny, and I have a good resume and what I think is a good personal statement. I just would feel 50% better about all of this if I knew my personal statement wasn't a pile of poo. Anyone have any recommendations? I feel like I am pretty open to all of the options, but also pretty frugal as well, as we all know that law school wont be cheap by any means. TIA!!

I have been skipping questions lately. But I haven't been doing entire sections yet. Just each passage that the RC syllabus tells me to do. So if I skip I am coming back to that question before my 8.5 minutes are up.

Advice on RC accuracy and time

So I am in reading comp right now, it is literally the last thing I am doing in my prep before going back to PTs. But I am still having the same problems that I was having last year when I was studying. For example, if there is 7 questions in a section I am constantly missing 3-4. I have tried the method JY recommended. It has not helped make anything better. I am getting really frustrated because I have had great growth in all other sections of the exam but I am still sucking the big one in RC. I dont test until September so I have time to figure this out.

I have tried going slow and seeing what happens, I have tried to keep the timed 3.5 minutes, I have tried not marking and marking the passage. I feel like I have exhausted all areas. If I were only missing one or two questions a passage I would make peace with it. But I am leaving to many points on the table to make peace with it right now.

Any advice or help would be GREATLY appreciated!!

I have a full sleeve, a few on my shoulders and hips and plan to have at least another half sleeve prior to law school/practicing law. I have done work at the county court house which is fairly large. The rules are very clear, you must cover up. Even little ones on the wrist must be covered. Either with makeup or work attire. All of my tattoos can be covered as long as I wear a cardigan or blazer which are already required for court in Oklahoma County. I would advise as long as it can covered your okay.

So I am curious how you know the real sections from experimental. I personally had 3 LR, 1 LG, 1RC. I couldn't tell you specifics if I wanted because I don't remember, it was such a huge blur. Anyone's head still spinning when they think about it to much?
